Comment: In choosing to use a multi-nutrient approach, this study is mirroring the Nutrient Synergy concept that has been introduced and successfully applied by Dr. Rath and his scientific research institute led by Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki. The Nutrient Synergy approach is based on the fact that micronutrients work in the body through forming synergy teams. This allows for the achieving of greater biological effects than does the use of individual nutrients acting independently. For maximum synergistic effect it is necessary to select the correct nutrients and combine them in the right proportions. To learn more about the Nutrient Synergy approach, visit the online library on the World Health Alphabetization campaign website.

Fury at EU Commission pharma policy move

September 13, 2014

The new European Commission says it will remove responsibility for medicines, including the European Medicines Agency, from the Directorate-General for Health and Consumers and give it back to DG Enterprise and Industry, in a development which has appalled health activists. This “opaque and unjustified” decision by President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker’s new Commission “will put the commercial, profit-driven interests of the pharmaceutical industry, rather than patients and consumers, at the heart of European policymaking on medicines,” warns Health Action International (HAI).

Comment: As this story illustrates, it is official Brussels EU Commission policy to put the business interests of the Pharma Cartel before the health interests of European citizens.

EU under pressure to allow GM food imports from US and Canada

September 5, 2014

Britain and other European Union member states are under increasing pressure from North American business groups to open their borders to imports of genetically modified food as part of negotiations for a new Transatlantic trade deal, environmental campaigners have warned.
Read article in the Guardian (UK)

Comment: TAFTA, the proposed transatlantic trade deal, would inevitably flood Europe with GMOs, destroy environmental safeguards and threaten entire economies. In the United States, it would destroy the "Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act” (DSHEA) – the law that has guaranteed free access to natural therapies for millions of Americans since 1994 – by harmonizing it to the Brussels EU’s notoriously dictatorial “Food Supplements Directive”. For these and many other reasons, Europeans and Americans should Say NO to TAFTA!

Cancer deaths double in Argentina's GMO agribusiness areas

Sharply increased levels of crop spraying in Argentina's most intensively farmed areas have resulted in a public health disaster, writes Lawrence Woodward, with large increases in cancer incidence. And it's all the result of the widespread use of GMO crops engineered for herbicide resistance.

Vitamin E intake critical during 'the first 1,000 days'

September 15, 2014

Amid conflicting reports about the need for vitamin E and how much is enough, a new analysis published today suggests that adequate levels of this essential micronutrient are especially critical for the very young, the elderly, and women who are or may become pregnant.
Read article at sciencedaily.com

Comment: As this article points out, it is difficult to obtain a proper intake of vitamin E from diet alone. Significantly therefore, surveys show that in the United States around 90 percent of men and 96 percent of women don't even consume the so-called Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of 15 milligrams per day for adults.

September 12, 2014

Canadians wait for it every year: the annual flight of the snowbirds in winter. Could there be an underlying health reason these birds take flight to sunnier climates? A researcher at the University of Alberta thinks so.

The Ebola epidemic in West Africa has the potential to alter history as much as any plague has ever done.
Read article in the New York Times (USA)

Comment: In the current public debate about the Ebola outbreak, one scientific fact has gone largely unnoticed: the virus is causing disease and death only in humans and subhuman primates.  Other natural hosts of this dangerous virus are not known to develop the disease. To learn why this is and to understand how the Ebola outbreak provides a chance to embrace natural medicine, read this article on our Foundation website.

Not enough vitamin B1 can cause brain damage

September 11, 2014

A deficiency of a single vitamin, B1 (thiamine), can cause a potentially fatal brain disorder called Wernicke encephalopathy. Symptoms can include confusion, hallucinations, coma, loss of muscle coordination and vision problems such as double vision and involuntary eye movements. Untreated, the condition can lead to irreversible brain damage and death, according to neurologists at Loyola University Medical Center.

The journalists who never sleep

September 12, 2014

‘Robot writers’ that can interpret data and generate stories are starting to appear in certain business and media sectors.

Comment: Outrage as EU blocks democratic challenge to US trade deal

September 12, 2014

There is something rotten in the state of Europe when an unelected, unaccountable EU body can glibly inform millions of us that we no longer have the right to question its most dangerous and unpopular policies.
Read article at politics.co.uk

Comment: Its utter contempt for democracy, as demonstrated here, tells us everything we need to know about the Brussels EU. With negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, also known as TAFTA, being conducted in clandestine, it is clear that this undemocratic construct has no intention whatsoever of listening to the voices of its citizens. The Brussels EU therefore needs to be dismantled as a matter of the utmost urgency and replaced with a Europe for the People, by the People.

European Union a Titanic Wreck in Waiting?

September 8, 2014

"Stöwer Titanic" by Willy Stöwer, died on 31st May 1931 - Magazine Die Gartenlaube, en:Die Gartenlaube and de:Die Gartenlaube. Licensed under Public domain via Wikimedia Commons

The European Union has been called the most ambitious political project in history, but it faces a very troubled future. And in politics, as in boxing, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Read article at cbn.com

Comment: With knowledge of its Nazi roots spreading ever more widely, the Brussels EU construct will inevitably collapse under the sheer weight of the lies on which it was built and is being run.
