Genetic study suggests causal link between vitamin D deficiency and hypertension

June 26, 2014

New genetic research provides compelling evidence that low levels of vitamin D have a causal role in the development of high blood pressure (hypertension). The findings, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, suggest that vitamin D supplementation could be effective in combating some cases of hypertension.

First major review provides evidence of sharp
increase in deaths from painkillers in US and Canada

June 17, 2014

The number of deaths involving commonly prescribed painkillers is higher than the number of deaths by overdose from heroin and cocaine combined, according to researchers at McGill University. In a first-of-its-kind review of existing research, the McGill team has put the spotlight on a major public health problem: the dramatic increase in deaths due to prescribed painkillers, which were involved in more than 16,000 deaths in 2010 in the U.S. alone. Currently, the US and Canada rank #1 and #2 in per capita opioid consumption.

Comment: One of the particular features of the pharmaceutical ‘Business with Disease’ is that maintaining and expanding diseases is a precondition for its growth. A key strategy to accomplish this goal is the development of drugs that merely mask symptoms while avoiding the curing or elimination of diseases. The pushing of painkillers as “cures” for minor aches and pains is a classic example of this.

New GMO Crops Tolerant to Monsanto’s Roundup Ready
Herbicide Create Conditions for the Development of “Superweeds”

June 26, 2014

The first of a new generation of genetically modified crops is poised to win government approval in the United States, igniting a controversy that may continue for years, and foreshadowing the future of genetically modified crops. The agribusiness industry says the plants—soy and corn engineered to tolerate two herbicides, rather than one—are a safe, necessary tool to help farmers fight so-called superweeds. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Agriculture appear to agree. However, many health and environmental groups say the crops represent yet another step on what they call a pesticide treadmill: an approach to farming that relies on ever-larger amounts of chemical use, threatening to create even more superweeds and flood America’s landscapes with potentially harmful compounds.

GMO Agriculture and Dow AgroSciences’ Genetically Modified Soyabeans: Waging War on Peasants

June 4, 2014

Global attempts by Dow AgroSciences to gain approval for new genetically-modified soybean varieties resistant to the herbicide 2,4-D have become particularly aggressive in recent months. Simultaneous applications have been filed in several of the countries where genetically engineered crops (GE or transgenic crops or GMOs) were introduced in the 1990s.

US sets up honey bee loss task force

June 20, 2014

The White House has set up a taskforce to tackle the decline of honey bees. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the agriculture department will lead the effort, which includes $8m (£4.7m) for new honey bee habitats. Bee populations saw a 23% decline last winter, a trend blamed on the loss of genetic diversity, exposure to certain pesticides and other factors. A quarter of the food Americans eat, including apples, carrots and avocados, relies on pollination.

Disease-causing chemicals in everyday products cost EU billions

June 18, 2014

Disease-causing chemicals in everyday products from sunscreen to store receipts cost EU countries more than 30 billion euros in health costs, a study said on Wednesday.
Read AFP news report at yahoo.com

Comment: This story exposes a key modus operandi of the ‘business with disease’ in that many of these dangerous chemicals are manufactured by the same companies that also produce patented pharmaceutical drugs. As such, in addition to profiting from selling disease-causing chemicals, such companies then profit a second time by selling patented synthetic drugs as supposed cures for the health problems they bring about.

Nicolas Sarkozy charged with corruption

July 2, 2014

France's former president Nicolas Sarkozy has been charged with corruption and influence peddling, French prosecutors said Wednesday, a dramatic move in a criminal probe that could wreck his hopes of a political comeback.
Read article in the Daily Telegraph (UK)

Comment: These charges follow Sarkozy already previously having been placed under formal investigation in 2013 for allegedly taking advantage of the L'Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt and accepting cash-stuffed brown envelopes from her to illegally fund his run for election. Notably, therefore, Sarkozy has long had close links to the multi-billion dollar global drug industry, having brokered the 2004 merger between French pharmaceutical company Sanofi – whose major shareholders include L'Oreal – and Swiss/German drug giant Aventis/Hoechst. He has also worked as a lawyer for Servier, a French company, whose diabetes drug Mediator is believed to have killed up to 2000 people.

Dick Cheney predicts 'far deadlier' attack against U.S. in next decade

June 24, 2014

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday he expects another terrorist attack on U.S. soil within the next 10 years. "I think there will be another attack, and next time I think it's likely to be far deadlier than the last one," he said on the conservative Hugh Hewitt radio program when asked if the United States could get through another decade without another "massive attack on the homeland."

Comment: In a key Open Letter published in the New York Times on 28 February 2003, Dr. Rath described how, prior to the 9/11 attacks, the pharmaceutical industry was facing the same grim fate as the tobacco industry. Faced with unsolvable business, legal, ethical and scientific conflicts, the end of this fraudulent industry seemed closer than ever. But the events on September 11, 2001, changed everything. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, the George W. Bush administration sought to secure the survival of the pharmaceutical industry at all costs. The war against Iraq was to play a crucial role towards the achieving of this aim. Rather than primarily being about fighting ‘terrorism’ or conquering oil fields, the Iraq War was launched as part of a long-term strategy of the Oil and Drug Cartel to create the necessary psychological state of fear for maintaining global control. As such, it can be seen that Cheney’s statements here are intended to further reinforce this.

Revealed: How the Nazis helped German companies Bosch,
Mercedes, Deutsche Bank and VW get VERY rich using 300,000 concentration camp slaves

June 20, 2014

The colossal extent of slave labour used by modern-day German blue-chip companies to get rich during the Third Reich has been laid bare by the nation's top business magazine.

Comment: In reading the above article it should be noted that the Dr. Rath Health Foundation’s groundbreaking publication, in July 2007, of the historic records from the Nuremberg war crimes trial against IG Farben, had been preceded by six decades of silence regarding the leading role this chemical and pharmaceutical cartel had played in planning and financing WWII. Quite obviously, the fact that this information had lain buried in international archives for so long was no accident. But with the world’s media gradually now beginning to pick up on the roles of IG Farben and other corporate interests in the perpetration of WWII, the interest groups that had kept this critical knowledge hidden for six decades will increasingly have to answer many questions. Whatever answers or excuses they may offer, one thing is already certain: The truth is now out and these facts will eventually become common knowledge both to this and all future generations.
