Cycling fast: vigorous daily exercise recommended for a longer life
A study conducted among cyclists in Copenhagen, Denmark1 showed that it is the relative intensity and not the duration of cycling which is of most importance in relation to all-cause mortality and even more pronounced for coronary heart disease mortality. The study presented today at the ESC Congress 2011, concluded that men with fast intensity cycling survived 5.3 years longer, and men with average intensity 2.9 years longer than men with slow cycling intensity. For women the figures were 3.9 and 2.2 years longer, respectively.

Vitamin A supplements for children could save 600,000 lives a year
Children in low and middle income countries should be given vitamin A supplements to prevent death and illness, concludes a study published in the British Medical Journal today. The researchers argue that the effectiveness of vitamin A supplementation is now so well-established that further trials would be unethical, and they urge policymakers to provide supplements for all children at risk of deficiency.

Shocking new details of US STD experiments in Guatemala
Fresh revelations about 1940s medical tests come to light, including deliberately exposing people to sexually transmitted diseases
Shocking new details of US medical experiments done in Guatemala in the 1940s, including a decision to re-infect a dying woman in a syphilis study, have been disclosed by a presidential panel.

Comment: For anybody who has innocently been assuming that criminal experiments conducted by or on behalf of the pharmaceutical, chemical and weapons industries had ceased after those carried out by the IG Farben cartel during WWII, the above story provides definitive proof that this is not in fact the case. Worse still, nor is this latest example even an isolated incident. Between 1932 and 1972, for example, in the notorious “Tuskegee Experiment”, U.S. Public Health Service doctors secretly enticed around 400 poor black men into a study whose aim, unknown to the participants, was to observe the natural progression of untreated syphilis. For 40 years, the men were deliberately never told they had syphilis and were never treated for it. Similarly, in South-West England, scientists from Porton Down sprayed toxic chemicals into the air around Bristol in the early 1960s to analyze how they dispersed, with passers-by and lunchtime shoppers knowingly being exposed and used as guinea pigs. In other tests, British soldiers recruited as volunteers to test "cold remedies" at Porton Down were instead given forms of the sarin nerve agent developed by the Nazis in World War II. To help put a stop to current examples of such deceptions, such as the Pharma Cartel's AIDS Genocide, please support the Call for a Second Nuremberg Tribunal.

‘Most’ American children not getting enough vitamin D
The majority of American children are not getting sufficient vitamin D from sun exposure, even in summer months, says a new analysis from leading researchers. According to findings published in Environmental Health Perspectives, only children with type II skin (Caucasian) living in the northern US actually achieved the minimum daily dose of vitamin D and this only occurred in the summer months if they did not wear sunscreen.

Comment: As we have pointed out previously on these pages, vitamin D deficiency is now a worldwide problem. In the United States, Canada, the UK and throughout the EU, for example, deficiencies of the vitamin are now widespread. Elsewhere in the world, the problem is no less serious. Pregnant Arab women, for example, have an "extraordinarily high prevalence" of vitamin D deficiency, whilst India is also now home to a growing epidemic of vitamin D deficiency. Even Australia, a land with plentiful sunshine and an outdoor lifestyle, now has a “mind-boggling” rate of deficiencies in this nutrient.

Organic Versus Genetically Engineered Crops: Some Rays of Light
Recent court decisions may help. Plus, new research shows how dangerous Monsanto’s GMOs really are.
Natural organic crops need to be protected from potential contamination by synthetic, genetically engineered seeds—especially in the face of less government oversight of GMOs. Natural seeds face the same Catch-22 as supplements: they cannot be patented, whereas synthetic seeds (and drugs) can be—and are therefore huge profit centers for Big Agro and Big Pharma, not to mention the government agencies in bed with them. They also need protection from the increased use of pesticides used on GE crops, which are also carried by the winds.

Mankind stands on the brink of new world war for food and water
The problem of hunger becomes more and more serious for millions of people around the world. A recent report from the World Bank said that food prices had grown by 33 percent since July 2010 and neared the peak level of 2008. The situation with food reserves in the world remains alarming, whereas domestic prices continue to fluctuate. The situation remains so unstable largely because of natural disasters, which affect the dynamics of food prices directly. Food prices fluctuate multidirectionally. The prices on maize, for instance, increased by 100% in some countries and dropped by 19 percent in other territories. According to the report from the World Bank, average prices on maize increased by 84 percent last year, on sugar - by 62 percent, on wheat - by 55 percent and on soy oil - by 47 percent.

Study shows powerful corporations really do control the world's finances
For many years conventional wisdom has said that the whole world is controlled by the monied elite, or more recently by the huge multi-national corporations that seem to sometime control the very air we breathe. Now, new research by a team based in ETH-Zurich, Switzerland, has shown that what we’ve suspected all along, is apparently true.
