Comment: Vitamin C is the key nutrient for the stability of blood vessels, the heart and all other organs in our bodies. Without vitamin C, our bodies would literally collapse and dissolve, as in scurvy. Significantly, therefore, Dr. Rath has discovered that coronary heart disease occurs exactly for the same reason that clinical (early) scurvy does – a deficiency of vitamin C in the cells composing the artery wall.

Omega-3 may slash levels of heart disease risk factor
Supplements of omega-3 fatty acids are associated with lower levels of an amino acid called homocysteine, an amino acid linked to increased risks of heart disease and dementia, says a new meta-analysis of the scientific evidence. Data from 11 trials including 720 people with doses of omega-3 ranging from 0.2 to 6 grams per day concluded that supplementation with omega-3s was associated with lower blood levels of homocysteine.

Abbott Labs Sued on Claim Humira Caused Lasting Nerve Damage
Abbott Laboratories (ABT) was sued on claims that its top-selling drug Humira caused permanent nerve damage in the feet of a Montana woman who took it for Crohn’s disease. Two doctors who treated Kara Mae Pletan at the Mayo Clinic in 2008 said the nerve damage in her feet “was most likely due to Humira,” according to the lawsuit, which was filed today in state court in Chicago, near the company’s headquarters in Abbott Park, Illinois. The complaint also alleges Abbott knew that Humira, which had 2010 worldwide sales of $6.5 billion, could cause peripheral neuropathy before it began marketing the drug to Crohn’s patients in 2007.

Low vitamin D in kids may play a role in anemia
Pediatricians from Johns Hopkins Children's Center and elsewhere have discovered a link between low levels of vitamin D and anemia in children. The findings, presented on May 1 at the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies in Denver, Colo., show that vitamin D deficiency may play an important role in anemia. Anemia, which occurs when the body has too few oxygen-carrying red blood cells, is diagnosed and tracked by measuring hemoglobin levels. Symptoms of mild anemia include fatigue, lightheadedness and low energy. Severe and prolonged anemia can damage vital organs by depriving them of oxygen.

News Analysis: TCM global presence challenged by EU herbal directive
As Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is expanding its presence in the global market, a disputed European Union (EU) herbal directive to be fully implemented on Sunday could be a stumbling block on the road. Starting from May 1, herbal medicinal products, most of which have been sold as food supplements for decades in the EU market, will no longer be allowed unless they have obtained a medicine license, according to the EU Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive adopted in 2004. The directive introduced a so-called simplified registration procedure with a seven-year transition period for traditional herbal medicinal products to be licensed, including Chinese and Indian traditional medicines. However, as the transition period is to expire on Saturday, no single Chinese herbal medicinal product has been granted the license.

Unlicensed herbal medicine to be banned in EU market
Herbal medicinal products, most of which have been sold as food supplements for decades in the EU market, will no longer be allowed since May 1 unless they have obtained a medicine license, the European Commission said Friday in a press release. Only medicinal products which have been registered or authorized can remain on the EU market after May 1, as the seven-year transition period of a 2004 European Union (EU) herbal directive is to expire on Saturday, according to the press release.

Comment: The key goal of the Brussels EU is to destroy the natural health sector so as to prevent non-patentable natural therapies from competing with the global pharmaceutical industry – the Pharma Cartel – and its multi-trillion dollar ‘Business with Disease’. Towards this aim, the so-called “Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive,” passed in 2004, subjects natural herbal medicines to a prohibitively expensive registration procedure whereby all herbs not specifically granted a license are banned and removed from the market. By decimating the herbal sector in this way, the Brussels EU aims to eliminate a key threat to the financial interests of its multi-trillion dollar pharmaceutical stakeholders. As such, the following devastating consequences of the Cartel’s rule over the ‘Brussels EU’ should now be understood by all: Now, at a time when – based on dramatic advances in science-based natural health – the lives of millions of people suffering from cancer, heart disease and other common health conditions could be saved, the Cartel is, once again, placing profit over life and becoming responsible for human suffering and death in genocidal proportions.

EU wins super-observer status at UN
The European Union on Tuesday secured super-observer status at the United Nations after overcoming objections from small states that they could see their influence eroded.
Read article in the Daily Telegraph (UK)
Comment: The securing of this so-called “super-observer” status at the United Nations provides further evidence of the ongoing attempt by the Brussels EU to expand its undemocratic influence worldwide. Far from being a “largely symbolic change” as is disingenuously being claimed by some, this latest increase in the EU’s status at the UN transforms the global body and enables the bloc’s unelected president, Herman Van Rompuy – whose pre-appointment “job interview” was conducted by the Rockefeller-controlled Bilderberg Group – to address the global assembly in the same way as elected leaders.
