Vitamin C as sepsis treatment: Should doctors wait for proof, or treat dying patients now?

NEWS

The buzz generated by a vitamin C concoction that a Norfolk doctor uses to treat sepsis set social media ablaze in March.

COMMENT

There is no doubt that vitamin C is a powerhouse of a nutrient and that it plays an important role in protecting the body against infections. This is why, for example, many people now take extra vitamin C as a natural remedy against colds and flu.

However, research carried out by scientists at the Dr. Rath Research Institute has documented that combining vitamin C with lysine and other micronutrients, such as proline, green tea extract and N-Acetylcysteine, works more effectively than taking it by itself. Used together, these micronutrients can target multiple mechanisms associated with infections.

Particularly impressively, a specific micronutrient synergy combination developed by the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s scientists has been shown to inhibit the multiplication of human flu viruses by up to 82 percent, as well as reduce the infection of new cells by 70 percent. Moreover, it can also impair enzymatic destruction of the body’s connective tissue, which is a natural barrier against the spread of viruses. Significantly, the combination was effective regardless of whether it was applied before, during, or even after infection with a flu virus.

Long-term use of quinine for muscle cramps associated with increased risk of death

NEWS

Long-term off-label use of quinine, still prescribed to individuals with muscle cramps despite the US Food and Drug Administration warnings of adverse events, is associated with an increased risk of death, according to a study published by JAMA.

COMMENT

Drugs associated with an increased risk of death are hardly a rarity. Take the example of digoxin, a drug widely used to treat heart failure. In 2015, a systematic review and meta-analysis covering over 300,000 patients found that digoxin increases the risk of death in heart patients by over 20 percent. For patients being treated for atrial fibrillation, a type of arrhythmia that can cause rapid, irregular beating of the heart's upper chambers, the increase in risk was even higher, at 29 percent.

Because they don’t address the root causes of chronic diseases, drugs cannot provide solutions to them. But by taking advantage of Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach and addressing micronutrient deficiencies synergistically, not only can patients’ health be safely improved – millions of lives can be saved.

Ebola: WHO declares outbreak in DR Congo

NEWS

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

COMMENT

Every Ebola outbreak inevitably makes headlines around the world. A highly infective and fatal viral disease, Ebola deserves to be taken very seriously. However, such outbreaks are immediately instrumentalised by those interest groups that have established a global business with diseases and the fears that accompany them – namely, the pharmaceutical investment business.

Amidst the inevitable media coverage of these outbreaks, one scientific fact invariably goes largely unnoticed: the Ebola virus causes disease and death only in humans and subhuman primates. Other natural hosts of this dangerous virus are not known to develop the disease. These ‘protected’ hosts include antelopes, porcupines and fruit eating bats. Remarkably, even though these animals can carry the Ebola virus for many years, they remain unaffected by it.

But there is a scientific explanation for this. Most animals synthesize the powerful antiviral micronutrient vitamin C in their bodies in huge amounts. To learn more about this fascinating fact, read this analysis by Dr. Rath on our Foundation website.

Monsanto Hires Internet Trolls to Cover Up Roundup’s Cancer Risk

NEWS

Internet trolls, paid for by Monsanto, have been scouring the internet to hide the ugly truth about the herbicide Roundup and the dangers of glyphosate, while the chemical giant worked with government regulators to declare the product safe to use, even though it "probably" causes cancer.

COMMENT

In a good illustration of how Monsanto is beginning to be held to account for its actions, an international tribunal has recently accused it of engaging in “practices which have negatively impacted the right to a healthy environment, the right to food, and the right to health."

In their advisory opinion, published on 18 April 2017, the five international judges who examined the evidence stated that were the crime of ‘Ecocide’ to be recognized in international law, the facts reported to them could fall within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. Calling for the primacy of international human and environmental rights law to be asserted, the judges wrote that “the time is ripe to consider multinational enterprises as subjects of law that could be sued in the case of infringement of fundamental rights.

New nationwide study indicates patients are often prescribed potentially futile drugs in their final months of life

NEWS

Nearly half of older adults in Sweden take 10 or more medications in their last months of life, according to a new study reported in The American Journal of Medicine.

COMMENT

Known as “polypharmacy”, the simultaneous use of multiple drugs is becoming increasingly commonplace not just in the final months of life, but also among older people in general. Illustrating the dangers that arise from this, a study published in 2016 found that older people taking such combinations face a significantly greater risk of frailty, disability and death. Tellingly, the researchers discovered that each additional medication added to a patient’s regimen was associated with a 22% increased risk of going from a state of robust health to dying during the period of the study.

Ultimately, of course, the only beneficiary from “polypharmacy” is the pharmaceutical business with disease, for whom profits – not human health – are the driving force. To learn how the global dissemination of nutrition-based therapies can bring an end to this mercenary approach to medicine, read Dr. Rath’s Barletta Declaration.

Omega-3 and perinatal depression: Nutritional strategies can help combat “under effective” treatment

NEWS

The crucial role of omega-3 in helping to tackle pre and post-natal depression has been underlined by a new meta-analysis, which also found such cases of depression were associated with a higher omega-6/omega-3 ratio.

COMMENT

Scientific research is increasingly showing the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acids in maintaining good mental health. In a meta-analysis published in 2016, for example, it was shown they can even reduce symptoms of major depressive disorder. Examining 13 randomized placebo-controlled trials involving 1,233 participants suffering from the condition, the researchers noted that higher doses of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) were especially beneficial.

Dutch court rules boy, 12, can refuse chemo

NEWS

A Dutch court ruled Friday that a 12-year-old boy suffering from a brain tumour had the right to refuse chemotherapy, rejecting his father's plea to order him to have the treatment.

COMMENT

This Dutch court ruling, involving a boy who wants to try alternative approaches to cancer treatment, is a landmark among such cases. In the vast majority of previous legal cases involving young cancer patients around the world, children have literally been forced to undergo toxic chemotherapy treatments. The story of a young German boy, Dominik Feld, particularly comes to mind here and is documented extensively on our website.

As this new Dutch ruling essentially reminds us, anybody who wants to pursue safe and effective alternative cancer treatment approaches is simply expressing their wish for something that should be a human right. Ultimately, in the battle for victory over cancer, it is the scientific facts about natural approaches, not the financial interests of the pharmaceutical ‘business with disease’, that will prevail.

'Strong evidence' common cold duration shortened by taking zinc lozenges

NEWS

Lozenges that contain zinc can shorten the duration of common colds by a third, according to researchers from Finland, who suggest patients should be encouraged to take them.

COMMENT

Dr. Rath’s breakthrough discoveries on infections have wide implications which include, among others, defining new biological targets in developing effective natural approaches to controlling viral and bacterial infections. They stress an importance of connective tissue stability and integrity in our understanding of how infectious diseases spread in the body, and how specific micronutrients can protect and stabilize this biological barrier which is important in hindering infections. Based on these discoveries, there is now no doubt that micronutrient supplementation can enhance immune function and suppress infection.

However, it is important to understand that no single nutrient alone can ensure optimum health. Instead, a complete spectrum of micronutrients is needed to synergistically support the immune system and enable it to function properly. This is the approach promoted by Cellular Medicine, which focuses on nutrient synergy for optimizing cellular metabolism and restoring its balance.

Research conducted at the Dr. Rath Research Institute has shown that the nutrient synergy approach is more effective than single nutrients, or their random combination, in addressing specific physiological tasks such as improving the synthesis and functioning of infection-fighting blood cells and stopping infectious agents from spreading. Utilizing this approach has been scientifically proven to provide superior health solutions through improving the general immunity of the body and supporting its physiological functioning.

Analysis: Can EFSA ever cut ties with industry?

NEWS

The consultation for a new policy on independence at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) draws to a close this week and campaigners have told FoodNavigator that the final document won’t be worth the paper it’s written on.

COMMENT

The fact is that the Brussels EU and its various agencies are controlled by corporate interests. Utterly incapable of meaningful reform, the Brussels EU system of governance has been deliberately organized as a dictatorship.

In a true democracy, of course, all power resides with the people. The principle of ‘separation of powers’ between the three levels of government – Executive, Legislative and Judicial – establishes checks and balances to protect against abuse. This principle has been universally accepted after mankind fought for it for thousands of years.

In contrast, the Brussels EU lacks this fundamental principle of ‘separation of powers.’ Moreover, the people of Europe have neither control over the Executive level nor over the Legislative process. Worse still, the parliament they elect has no means of effectively controlling these branches either.

To learn the shocking facts about the history of this undemocratic European political structure, read our book, The Nazi Roots of the Brussels EU.

Pollution 'sparks 10% rise in cancer cases': Fumes thought to be responsible for nearly 30,000 diagnoses in Britain

NEWS

Air pollution contributes to a 10 per cent rise in people being diagnosed with cancer, a study has found.

COMMENT

The World Health Organization estimates that 92 per cent of the world's population currently live in places where air pollution exceeds safe limits. In 2012 around 6.5 million deaths (11.6 percent of all global deaths) are believed to have been associated with air pollution, nearly 90 percent of which were in low- and middle-income countries.

Study suggests omega-3 in mothers' diets may lower children's risk of type 1 diabetes

NEWS

New research published in Diabetologia (the journal of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes [EASD]) suggests that omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), derived primarily from fish in maternal diet during pregnancy or lactation, may help protect infants at high risk of type 1 diabetes (T1D) from developing the disease.

COMMENT

Omega-3 fatty acids play vital roles in maintaining our health. Required for the proper functioning of the heart, brain, eyes and other organs, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly crucial as the human body can only manufacture them in limited amounts.

Significantly, therefore, research suggests that supplementing our diets with these key micronutrients can provide a wide variety of impressive benefits to our health. Ensuring you have an optimum supply of these essential fatty acids, and incorporating them into a carefully balanced supplement regime that includes synergistic levels of other essential micronutrients, may be one of the best things you can do towards enhancing and protecting your health.

China increases solar power output by 80% in three months

NEWS

China electricity output from photovoltaic plants rose 80 per cent in the first quarter after the world’s biggest solar power market increased installed capacity.

COMMENT

For over a century now, special interests have been controlling the people of the world through maintaining the “tyranny of oil”. Even today, despite the fact there are non-polluting alternatives such as solar power available, these interest groups are trying to delay the switchover from, global replacement of, fossil fuels. Why are they doing this? Quite simply, with the oil and gas drilling sector bringing in $5-trillion a year, they are doing it for profit and to maintain their control over the world’s energy supplies.

This is why, in the area of energy, the goal of the Movement of Life is to end the global dependency on oil and bring about a change to renewable energy. Visit the Movement of Life website to learn more about our campaign for Free Energy for All!

Big Pharma's Pollution Is Creating Deadly Superbugs While the World Looks the Other Way

NEWS

Industrial pollution from Indian pharmaceutical companies making medicines for nearly all the world's major drug companies is fuelling the creation of deadly superbugs, suggests new research. Global health authorities have no regulations in place to stop this happening.

COMMENT

With its drugs not treating the primary cause of today’s most common chronic diseases; its sales exceeding 1 trillion dollars a year; and the pollution it causes increasingly creating deadly superbugs; the pharmaceutical ‘business with disease’ is not sustainable either scientifically, financially, or environmentally.

There is only one viable solution to this problem. In short, mankind has to free itself from dependency on the drug industry. To achieve this, we have to work together and make natural preventive healthcare a human right. Achieving this will require us to lay down the principle of disease prevention by natural means as the foundation of a new global health care system. Moreover, since we – the people of this world – will be the primary beneficiaries of this new approach, we must also become its architects.

If you would like to volunteer some of your time to work with us and help create a world in which today's most common diseases become largely unknown, please contact us, we’d love to hear from you and discuss the possibilities for saving lives where YOU live!

Omega-3 and cancer recovery: How supplementation helps reduce hospital stays after operations

NEWS

Omega-3 supplementation boosts immunity and helps reduce inflammation among gastrointestinal cancer patients after surgery, new meta-analysis reports.

COMMENT

Today, the cancer epidemic remains one of the largest killers on our planet. According to the World Health Organization, 8.8 million people worldwide died from this disease in 2015 alone. That is nearly 1 in 6 of all global deaths. In the United States, Canada and Europe, the numbers are particularly staggering as 1 in every 3 men and women now lose their lives to it. And the numbers are still growing worldwide.

So what does this mean? Firstly, if the incidence of a disease is still increasing, it means that the mechanisms for its control either have not been discovered or are not being applied in medical practice. Moreover, we can also conclude that conventional approaches to cancer – such as chemotherapy and radiation, which have been used on patients for over half a century – have obviously failed to curb the epidemic.

Fortunately, there is now an answer to this disease – and it doesn’t involve toxic treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation. Innovative natural health approaches pioneered by Dr. Rath, Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki, and scientists at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have been shown to block all key mechanisms that make cancer a deadly disease. You can learn about these approaches by reading the groundbreaking book, Victory Over Cancer, and watching this inspiring video interview featuring Dr. Rath and Dr. Niedzwiecki.

Psychological benefits for kids when mums keep taking folic acid

NEWS

Children's emotional intelligence improved if mums take folic acid supplements throughout pregnancy.

COMMENT

It has long been established that mothers who take folic acid supplements during the first three months of pregnancy reduce the risk of their babies having serious birth defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. In this study, however, it was found that mothers who took the supplements throughout pregnancy saw an additional benefit in that their children had higher levels of emotional intelligence and resilience.

Scientific research clearly shows that proper nutrition – and especially a constant supply of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and other micronutrients – is very important for a developing fetus. Development of the various organs in the fetus starts and continues at different periods during pregnancy. Inadequate nourishment in any phase of pregnancy will therefore affect organ systems, birth weight, and even the baby’s survival. Moreover, how the organs develop during pregnancy can also determine how their growth continues after the baby’s birth.

You can learn more about the importance of micronutrients in pregnancy by reading parts one and two of a special feature article on the Dr. Rath Research Institute website.

Autism’s drug problem

NEWS

Many people on the autism spectrum take multiple medications — which can lead to serious side effects and may not even be effective.

COMMENT

The more drugs a patient takes, the greater the chance is that they will suffer side effects – and even an earlier death. In a graphic illustration of this simple principle, a study published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society in 2016 described how older people taking multiple pharmaceutical drugs face a significantly greater risk of frailty, disability and death. Providing further shocking evidence of the dangers of “polypharmacy”, the researchers found that each additional medication added to a patient’s regimen was associated with a 22% increased risk of going from a state of robust health to dying during the period of the study.

It would be bad enough if this happened by accident. But in fact, the deliberate causing of side effects and new diseases with drugs is one of the key strategies used by pharmaceutical companies to expand their markets. EFSA ‘overly upbeat’ on pesticides

NEWS

The annual European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) report on pesticide residues in food has had an overly positive interpretation by the European body, according to Greenpeace and the Pesticide Action Network (PAN)-Europe.

COMMENT

The Brussels EU report referred to in this article pompously claims that food consumed in Europe contains levels of pesticides that are within so-called ‘legal limits’. Analyzing over 84,000 samples, the report misleadingly declares that more than 97 percent of those examined had chemical residues which are within the amounts permitted by Brussels EU legislation. Clearly intended as health propaganda to convince the public that the insect-killing poisons sprayed on their foods are safe for human consumption, the publication blatantly ignores the toxic amplifying effects that combinations of pesticides can have when present together.

Cancer Drugs Fund 'huge waste of money'

NEWS

The Cancer Drugs Fund in England was a "huge waste of money" and may have caused patients to suffer unnecessarily from the side effects of the drugs, according to UK researchers.

COMMENT

Drugs are not, and never will be, the answer to cancer. This is because they do not address the primary cause of the disease. As explained by Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach, the primary cause of cancer is a chronic deficiency of essential micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and trace elements. Cellular Medicine therefore defines an optimum daily intake of these and other specific micronutrients as a basic preventative measure for maintaining health, as well as for the safe and effective control of not only cancer but also many other pathological conditions.

Facebook 'observed propaganda efforts' by governments

NEWS

Facebook has admitted that it observed attempts to spread propaganda on its site, apparently orchestrated by governments or organised parties.

COMMENT

If you stop to think about it, nowhere does the issue of providing truthful information have a greater impact on our lives and wellbeing than it does in the field of medicine. But when it comes to who we can really trust regarding information about health, our governments have arguably been the least reliable sources around.

Fortunately, however, the explosive growth of the internet in recent years has enabled truthful organizations such as ourselves to share news, views, and information that directly contradict the ‘official’ versions promoted by governments and the orthodox media. Paralleling the invention of the printing press in the 15th century, which led to the ending of mass illiteracy and the expansion of the human mind, the spread of natural health knowledge through modern digital technology will inevitably lead to the liberation of mankind from the Pharma Cartel and its “business with disease”.

US pregnant women falling short of omega-3 intake recommendations

NEWS

Many pregnant women in the US are consuming significantly lower EPA and DHA omega-3s than recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, according to a new analysis.

COMMENT

Throughout our lives, omega-3 fatty acids play vital roles in maintaining our health. Deadly air pollution can get into the bloodstream, 'smoking gun' study suggests

NEWS

Tiny particles – like those produced in vast amounts by burning fossil fuels – can pass through the lungs into the bloodstream and then damage various different organs, according to a controversial new experiment.

COMMENT

In further evidence that essential micronutrients are highly effective in protecting human health, a new study from the United States has found that high-dose B vitamins may “completely offset” the damage caused by the most dangerous type of air pollution. Published in the prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) journal, the researchers showed that exposure to fine particulate matter of the type produced by burning fossil fuels in motor vehicles can be mitigated by a daily supplement of B vitamins. With such pollution being known to have significant adverse effects on human health, the finding has profound implications for public health policies worldwide.

Exercise and vitamin D better together for heart health

NEWS

Johns Hopkins researchers report that an analysis of survey responses and health records of more than 10,000 American adults for nearly 20 years suggests a "synergistic" link between exercise and good vitamin D levels in reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

COMMENT

Achieving and maintaining good health is all about paying attention to synergy. However, this principle doesn’t only apply to combining exercise and vitamin D, but also to our micronutrient intake in general.

While vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients are all required for the normal functions of our body, they do not work in isolation from each other. Instead, they participate in complex metabolic processes in the body and interact either by enhancing or opposing each other’s actions. In fact, we can say that their optimal interaction and cellular balance is the very basis of health.

To learn about the micronutrient synergy approach, as pioneered by researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute under the direction of Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki, read this edition of the institute’s popular health information newsletter.

Tony Blair hints at return to frontline politics for Brexit battle

NEWS

Tony Blair said he feels motivated to return to frontline politics and refused to rule out standing again as a Labour MP.

COMMENT

On 14 June, 2003, the Dr. Rath Health Foundation submitted a formal Complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. A 36-page document, the Complaint detailed genocide and other crimes against humanity committed in connection with the pharmaceutical business with disease and the Iraq War. As we stated at the time, the charges brought before the ICC concern crimes that are among the worst committed in human history. Despite their shocking gravity, however, George Bush and Tony Blair, the chief perpetrators named in the Complaint, have thus far managed to evade justice. In the case of Bush, given that the United States is not a party to the statute that established the ICC, a case against him currently seems unlikely. As for Blair, however, while he still retains formidable political influence, the campaign to send him to The Hague is growing and is far from over.

Vitamin D and Calcium May Reduce Blood Pressure

NEWS

Higher levels of vitamin D and calcium may keep blood pressure in check, according to new research presented at the National Kidney Foundation Spring Clinical Meetings.

COMMENT

The Pharma Cartel wants patients to believe that controlling high blood pressure requires the use of drugs. The fact is, however, that drugs do not address the root cause of this health problem. As such, they are clearly not the answer to it.

Fortunately, Dr. Rath’s breakthrough understanding of the root cause of high blood pressure opens up an entirely new way of controlling it. As studies carried out by scientists working at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have shown, its main cause is a chronic deficiency of essential micronutrients in the millions of smooth muscle cells lining the blood vessel walls. Nutrients such as vitamin C, lysine, proline, arginine, magnesium and others are critical for maintaining the strength and elasticity of the blood vessels – and thereby for maintaining normal blood pressure.

You can learn more about this scientific breakthrough in this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s health information newsletter.
