Paracetamol is useless at treating arthritis pain - whatever the dose, major study finds

NEWS

Paracetamol does little to ease hip and knee pain caused by the most common form of arthritis, a major study has found.

COMMENT

The news for makers of paracetamol (acetaminophen) continues to go from bad to worse. Only last month, another new study confirmed the link between exposure to the drug and the risk of developing asthma in childhood. Published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, the analysis found that taking paracetamol during pregnancy, or administering it to babies during infancy, is associated with the child developing asthma a few years later.

Moreover, and as we reported last year, a scientific review has looked at the risks of taking paracetamol on a long-term basis and concluded that its dangers are seemingly being underestimated even by clinicians. Published online in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases journal, researchers from the UK examined eight studies assessing the association between chronic use of the painkiller and major adverse events. Contrary to the general impression given by the pharma industry and its stakeholders that paracetamol is a safe “cure-all” drug, the researchers discovered that long term use of it raises the risk of heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, renal failure, gastrointestinal bleeding and early death.

With shocking long-term risks such as these, and even short-term use prenatally or in infancy now found to be unsafe, evidence is mounting that paracetamol is arguably one of the most dangerous over-the-counter drugs available.

Is obstructive sleep apnea linked to low levels of vitamin D?

NEWS

Vitamin D deficiency is linked to multiple diseases including psoriasis, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, asthma, periodontal disease, cardiovascular disease, schizophrenia, depression, and cancer. Now, researchers have shown a correlation between vitamin D deficiency and a higher rate of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

COMMENT

With vitamin D deficiency now linked to a long list of diseases, there can be no doubt that ensuring an optimum supply of this essential micronutrient is a crucial factor in maintaining good health. However, amidst the increasing worldwide interest in vitamin D it is important to keep in mind that no single nutrient alone can ensure optimum health.

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids and other micronutrients are all required for the normal functioning of our body, and they do not work alone. All these nutrients participate in complex metabolic processes in our body and interact either by enhancing or opposing each other’s actions. The optimal interaction and cellular balance of micronutrients is the basis of health.

In this respect, the many years of scientific research carried out by the Dr. Rath Research Institute have confirmed that the most effective micronutrient supplementation can be achieved by utilizing specific and properly selected micronutrient combinations acting in biological synergy.

To learn more about the micronutrient synergy approach to health, read this edition of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s fortnightly newsletter.

Time for action on universal access to water

NEWS

Water is a human right. It is high time for the European Commission to recognise this fact and end the privatisation of European water companies, which threatens to deprive thousands of this most vital resource, writes Jan Willem Goudriaan.

COMMENT

With the unelected European Commission – the executive level of the Brussels EU – being controlled by corporate interests, it is of course naïve to expect it to end the privatisation of European water companies anytime soon. Operating outside the basic principles of democracy, the Brussels EU – by definition – is a dictatorship and has no interest in the principle of Free Water for All.

In a true democracy, all power resides with the people. The principle of separation of powers between the three levels of government – Executive, Legislative and Judicial – is carefully designed to establish checks and balances to protect against abuse. This principle has been universally accepted after mankind fought for it for thousands of years.

However, the design of the Brussels EU deliberately ignores this fundamental principle. Moreover, the people of Europe have neither control over the executive level nor over the legislative process. Worse still, the parliament they elect has no effective means of controlling these branches of government either.

To learn more about the undemocratic nature of the Brussels EU read our 2010 book on its hidden history, The Nazi Roots of the Brussels EU.

Vitamin D may help avert early onset of insulin resistance

NEWS

Early intervention with vitamin D in deficient individuals may help ward off early onset of insulin resistance, according to a study published online Feb. 18 in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism.

COMMENT

This study reminds us, as the old saying goes, that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” As Dr. Rath describes in the Barletta Declaration, a comprehensive state of health and well-being for the people of the world cannot be achieved by interventional medicine that merely concentrates on treating diseases AFTER they occur. Ultimately, the goal of providing health to all the people of the world can only be achieved when the focus of healthcare is switched from intervention to prevention – that is, towards averting and correcting the malfunctioning of our body BEFORE diseases develop.

Towards this goal, our Foundation is committed to making every effort to spread the life-saving benefits of nutritional health and Cellular Medicine and to building a new, prevention-oriented system of healthcare for our planet. If you would like to work with us on this vital project as one of our volunteer campaign organizers in your country, please contact us, we’ll look forward to hearing from you!

Common painkillers more dangerous than thought: study

NEWS

Common painkillers have more side effects than we think, including the risk of ulcers and increased blood pressure and should be used with great care in patients with heart disease, a new study has warned.

COMMENT

A recent medical trial in France that left one person dead and three others with possibly irreversible brain damage provided yet another grim reminder of the dangers of painkilling drugs.

With another study published last year having found that painkillers are associated with a significantly increased risk of committing homicide, it is therefore clear that, until the fraudulent “business with disease” is finally brought to an end, many more lives yet will be wrecked and countless innocent people will continue to die as a direct result of the pharma industry’s relentless pursuit of profits from these drugs.

New study supports link between Omega-3 supplementation and reduction in depression

NEWS

A new meta-analysis published in Translational Psychiatry supports the link between intake of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids, the kind found in fish, and reduction in major depressive disorder (MDD).

COMMENT

Is there nothing that omega-3 fatty acids can’t do? It does sometimes seem like it, as research is increasingly showing these micronutrients play important roles in the control and prevention of a number of diseases. Recent studies, for example, have demonstrated that omega-3 supplements can help reduce inflammation for people with chronic kidney disease and that keeping your levels of omega-3 fatty acids high can help stop the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

With research published by Harvard University in 2009 suggesting that omega-3 deficiency causes up to 96,000 deaths per year in the United States – thus making it the sixth biggest killer of Americans – ensuring the optimum effectiveness of these essential fatty acids by taking them as part of a synergistically designed daily micronutrient programme may be one of the best things you can do to enhance and protect your health.

Lower Vitamin D Levels Predict Poor Survival Outcomes in Melanoma

NEWS

In patients with melanoma, lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D (vitamin D) levels were associated with poorer survival outcomes, according to a prospective study. This association was independent of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels.

COMMENT

Melanomas are skin tumors that originate from the body’s melanocyte (melanin-producing) cells. Ranking as the seventh leading type of cancer in the United States, the incidence of melanoma is ten times higher in Caucasians than in African Americans. In women the incidence of melanoma is increasing faster than any other cancer, except lung cancer. Individuals with fair skin, blue eyes, blonde or red hair are at higher risk of developing it.

Notably, therefore, researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have investigated the effects of a specific micronutrient combination on human melanoma and murine melanoma cell lines using in vitro and in vivo approaches. Their work confirms that this micronutrient combination is effective in inhibiting all key mechanisms that make melanoma a deadly disease. First EU-wide data offers ‘firm evidence’ of vitamin D deficiency

NEWS

An estimated 13% of the EU population are vitamin D deficient, an EU-funded project providing the first internationally comparable data has found.

COMMENT

Given that previous work, conducted independently, has suggested the proportion of Europeans suffering from low vitamin D levels may be as high as 70 percent, the 13 percent estimate from this Brussels EU-funded project is almost certainly a significant underestimate, to say the least.

Studies clearly show that deficiency of vitamin D and other micronutrients is a global problem. In India, for example, the proportion of people deficient in vitamin D has been found to be over 81 percent. This is particularly significant as there had previously been a general belief that low levels of this micronutrient are uncommon there due to the abundant amounts of sunshine in the country. While available in some foods, vitamin D is also produced endogenously in the human body when ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger its synthesis.

As Dr. Rath’s scientific concept of Cellular Medicine explains, the primary cause of today’s most common chronic diseases – including various forms of cardiovascular diseasesdiabetescancer, and others – is a chronic deficiency of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other essential micronutrients. Thus, in order to achieve the safe and effective control of these diseases, an optimal daily intake is essential.

Can Vitamins Tame Unruly Children?

NEWS

A simple vitamin pill can calm unruly children, says a British study designed to investigate the effects of supplements on the behavior and school performance of teens who attended a school in a disadvantaged community in east London.

COMMENT

The underlying idea behind this area of research is essentially a simple one; namely that the brain needs to be nourished, just like all other organs of the body, and that it is therefore vital to consider the brain’s nutritional needs as a key factor in governing behaviour. Interestingly, it is not even as if this hypothesis is a new one. When Archibald Sinclair, as Secretary of State for Air, persuaded the wartime British government in 1942 to supplement the diet of the country’s children with cod-liver oil and orange juice, he had speculated that, among other ills, poor diets could lead to antisocial behaviour.

Further support for this theory comes from work conducted in the United States, which has shown that school children given a daily supplement containing a mere 50 per cent of the RDA for a period of 4 months had lower rates of threats and fighting, vandalism, being disrespectful, disorderly conduct, defiance, obscenities, refusal to work or serve, endangering others, and other offences.

In a similar experiment, in 2015 researchers in the Netherlands announced they were preparing to start a major study in which prisoners with anger management problems will be given food supplements to determine whether improving nutritional status can reduce aggressive and antisocial behaviour. Building on previous work done in this area, inmates in five Dutch jails and two youth detention centres will be given vitamins, minerals and fish oil. If the approach proves successful, the country’s justice ministry plans to expand the program and offer the supplements to further prisoners with violent tendencies.

Charity wants to test whether cancer drugs can reverse antibiotic resistance

NEWS

A UK based medical charity plans to test up to 1500 drugs in use today for any therapeutic purpose, for example cancer treatment, heart disease or arthritis, to find out if any of them can reverse antibiotic resistance.

COMMENT

Barely a week goes by these days without a media headline telling us that antibiotic resistant “superbugs” have become one of the world’s most pressing health concerns. Declaring that we stand on the threshold of the post-antibiotic era, such news stories try to frighten us into believing that, by the middle of this century, superbugs could be killing millions of people every year. Notably, however, whenever the question is raised as to what alternative approaches might be available for controlling infections, no mention whatsoever is made of the key roles played by essential micronutrients in the proper functioning of the immune system. Instead, when faced with infections, the sole focus of the pharmaceutical and medical orthodoxy is on the use of toxic chemical drugs.

However, contrary to the impression given to us by the media, and also the plans of the UK based medical charity that is the subject of this story, the truth is that nutrition, immunity and infection are all closely related. To learn how micronutrient supplementation can enhance immune function and suppress infection, read this article on our Foundation website.

Higher magnesium levels linked to healthier arteries

NEWS

Higher serum levels of magnesium may reduce the risk of hypertension by almost 50% and the risk of coronary artery calcification by 42%, says a new study.

COMMENT

Studies have shown that magnesium plays a key role in reducing the risk of high blood pressure (hypertension). For the best results in controlling this health problem, however, a synergistic combination of nutrients that includes vitamin C, lysine, proline, arginine, magnesium and others is recommended.

Scientists at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have conducted a pilot clinical trial to evaluate the effects of synergistic micronutrient supplementation in patients clinically diagnosed with hypertension. At the end of the 6-month study, 70% of the patients showed a clear improvement in their blood pressure readings. Overall, their blood pressure dropped 15%-16% with average values at the end of the study being 138/83 mm of Hg, which is lower than the values defined by the World Health Organization for hypertension.

To learn how the use of micronutrient synergy helps in high blood pressure, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s fortnightly newsletter.

Britain warned it wields no power in German-dominated EU

NEWS

Britain has little or no say over decisions made in a European Union increasingly dominated by German interests, Iceland’s prime minister has said.

COMMENT

For citizens in Great Britain, our exposure of the Nazi roots of the Brussels EU has been a particular provocation. Having twice previously – in WWI and WWII – played a critical role in saving Europe from takeover by the German Oil and Drug Cartel and its political stakeholders, the British people are now faced with the very real possibility that the extraordinary human sacrifices their countrymen made in the past may have been in vain.

However, in their upcoming referendum on their country’s membership of the Brussels EU, the people of Britain have a chance to break free from its dictatorship, restore democracy and preserve their country’s independence. But with European leaders already openly warning of “consequences” if Britain votes to leave, the Cartel and its stakeholders are clearly preparing to do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening.

Danish researchers make absurd claim that RDA levels of vitamins carry risk of overdose

NEWS

Supplement manufacturers should not be offering 100% of recommended dietary allowances (RDA) in vitamin and mineral supplements, Danish researchers claim, citing the supposed risk of overdose.

COMMENT

Contrary to what some self-proclaimed experts pretend, the RDAs were never intended as a measure of safety, only as a supposed measure of need. However, the fact is that ordinary diets don’t supply enough micronutrients to ensure optimum health.

Independent studies conducted in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and many other countries have shown that the nutrient content of our food has fallen substantially over the past few decades. Despite this evidence, however, numerous reports on how an insufficient intake of vitamins contributes to many health problems, as well as the impressive health benefits that result from regular dietary micronutrient supplementation, are being ignored by government authorities and the mass media alike.

To learn the facts about the safety of vitamins, read this article by the head of the Dr. Rath Research Institute, Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki.

Double mastectomy after breast cancer is pointless for most women, experts find

NEWS

Thousands of women are needlessly having their breasts removed to prevent cancer even though it may do more harm than good, a new study suggests.

COMMENT

In recent years, following the example of US Actress Angelina Jolie, so-called “preventive mastectomies” have been growing in popularity. Even where no is cancer present, increased numbers of women have been undergoing breast removal to supposedly reduce the risk of the disease either developing or reoccurring.

Significantly, however, after analyzing over half a million breast cancer patients for a period of eight and a half years, the researchers who carried out this new study found that the surgical removal of a breast unaffected by cancer had no effect on survival. This discovery is hardly surprising, of course, as mastectomy does not address the chronic deficiencies of micronutrients that are the primary cause of cancer.

Small fish oil doses enough to lower blood pressure

NEWS

Even the smallest amounts of fish oil can reduce blood pressure (BP), but only in those who have a history of hypertension, a study has determined.

COMMENT

The scientific proof that micronutrients can lower blood pressure safely and effectively is now incontrovertible. In this situation, it is therefore no coincidence that the pharma industry and its stakeholders in the mass media are getting desperate.

We saw a good example of this desperation earlier this year, when a study claimed that many more people should be taking “intensive blood pressure-lowering” drugs to reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes. Published in The Lancet medical journal in the form of a meta-analysis of 19 trials, the paper essentially asserted that all people deemed to be at risk should be given drug medication – even if their current blood pressure level is normal and irrespective of the danger of severe side-effects. Significantly, however, in its promotion of the study, the mass media failed to draw attention to the fact that half of the researchers who carried it out had connections to multinational drug companies or pro-pharmaceutical research interests.

With over 1 billion people worldwide now living with uncontrolled high blood pressure, and this number expected to increase 60 percent by the year 2025, it is high time patients and their doctors were told the truth about the safety and effectiveness of natural therapies in controlling this dangerous health problem. Towards this goal, by learning and sharing the facts about Cellular Medicine and high blood pressure, you can protect both your own health and that of others.

Certain plant extracts may keep you young—and alive

NEWS

Even though the search for the Fountain of Youth dates back to the ancient Greeks, the quest to live forever continues today. Indeed, it has been said that the ability to slow the aging process would be the most important medical discovery in the modern era. A new study published in the journal Oncotarget by researchers from Concordia and the Quebec-based biotech company Idunn Technologies may have uncovered an important factor: plant extracts containing the six best groups of anti-aging molecules ever seen.

COMMENT

Phytonutrients, natural components of plants, have a wide variety of beneficial effects. Their important functions include protecting the plants from insects, diseases, draught, ultraviolet rays and pollutants. Until recently, phytonutrients were not considered as important nutrients for humans; however, they are now thought to be necessary to sustain human life.

Research has shown that several phytonutrients can reduce the incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis and cancer. You can learn about the health protective effects of Quercetin, Curcumin, Resveratrol, Cruciferous Vegetables, and Green Tea Extract in special feature articles about them on our Foundation website.

Omega-3 fatty acids shown to exert a positive effect on the aging brain

NEWS

Researchers from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin were able to show that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation improves memory function in humans. They studied the effects of supplementation with natural omega-3 fatty acids in healthy older adults over a period of six months. Results from the study, which show that supplementation leads to significant improvements in memory function, have been published in the current issue of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease.

COMMENT

Over the past couple of decades, a succession of studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids are helpful in preventing and controlling diseases such as cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, cancer and others. Recent research has added to our knowledge regarding this important class of micronutrients by finding they can also help reduce inflammation in chronic kidney disease and, in combination with B vitamins, stop the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

The latter of these findings is especially important as, when carefully chosen and correctly balanced, combining micronutrients in groups is by far the most effective approach towards ensuring optimal health. Pioneered over many years by Dr. Rath, Dr. Niedzwiecki and their research team at the Dr. Rath Research Institute, studies utilizing this approach have found that the best results are achieved through the use of scientifically designed micronutrient combinations acting in biological synergy.

Euro depression is 'deliberate' EU choice, says former Bank of England chief

NEWS

Europe's deep economic malaise is the result of "deliberate" policy choices made by EU elites, according to the former governor of the Bank of England. Lord Mervyn King continued his scathing assault on Europe's economic and monetary union, having predicted the beleaguered currency zone will need to be dismantled to free its weakest members from unremitting austerity and record levels of unemployment.

COMMENT

Europe's current economic malaise is hardly the first damaging policy choice that the Brussels EU has deliberately inflicted on its citizens.

In a little-noticed article in the Financial Times in 2001, the then president of the Brussels EU Commission, Romano Prodi, stated the following: “I am sure the euro [currency] will oblige us to introduce a new set of economic policy instruments. It is politically impossible to propose that now. But some day there will be a crisis and new instruments will be created.”

As such, it can be seen that the ongoing economic crises in Europe are being created deliberately so that the Brussels EU elites can use them as a means of bringing in further laws that take them gradually closer to the political dictatorship they have desired all along.

Turmeric - Nature's wonder drug! The healthiest herbs & spices revealed

NEWS

Ounce for ounce, herbs and spices have more antioxidants than any other food group. This means they can help prevent the initial triggering of mutations in your DNA that could lead to cancer or other diseases. So taking a moment to spice up your life can have far-reaching consequences.

COMMENT

Obtained from the rhizomes of the curcuma longa plant, turmeric powder is used extensively in South-Asian cooking and food preservation. Due to its various medicinal properties, turmeric is still used in Ayurvedic medicine for skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal ailments, liver disorders, muscle sprains, joint pains and wound healing. In the past few decades, curcumin, the most abundant natural phenol present in turmeric, has been studied to evaluate its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune modulation properties.

Researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have studied the efficacy of a combination of curcumin, quercetin, resveratrol and other natural plant derived compounds against melanoma (skin cancer) cells. When doing so they found that when used together these compounds exhibited significant anti-cancer effects. For example, they inhibited cancer cell growth by 80% and completely blocked the enzymes that are responsible for the growth and spread of cancer. To learn more about the health protective effects of curcumin, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s fortnightly news page.

Drug distribution becomes weapon to block competition

NEWS

The same strategy that Martin Shkreli used to get away with a 5,000-percent price increase on an old drug is used by many other drugmakers to maintain sky-high prices on billions of dollars' worth of medications.

COMMENT

When news broke in September 2015 that the price of Daraprim (Pyrimethamine), an anti-parasitic drug that is on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines, had been raised from $13.50 to $750 per tablet, the reputation and credibility of the pharma industry predictably sank to a new low. Marketed since the 1950s, the drug was acquired by Turing Pharmaceuticals, a start-up company run by Martin Shkreli, a former hedge fund manager.

Astonishingly, with even the global mass media seemingly aghast at this latest case of pharma greed, Shkreli shamelessly attempted to portray his 5000% price rise as “altruistic”.

Ultimately, in order for Health for All to become a reality for the people of the world, the pharmaceutical “business with disease” has to be brought to an end and unscrupulous individuals such as Shkreli have to be held to account for their actions.

2 Otisville correction officers suspended over vitamins

NEWS

On Feb. 6, two correction officers were frog-marched out of Otisville Correctional Facility, charged with misdemeanor promoting prison contraband, after a random search of all 35 or so officers arriving for the 3-11 p.m. shift turned up pills or capsules on six officers.

COMMENT

On the face of it, of all the things that officials at a state prison could be arrested for possession of while at work, vitamins and supplements must surely be among the most absurd. This is especially the case given that, according to the lawyer representing the two officers concerned, nothing in the facility’s laws forbids employees from bringing supplements to their workplace.

On a deeper level, however, as ridiculous as it is, the subtle message that is apparently supposed to be conveyed by this incident is that vitamins are dangerous substances whose use should be tightly controlled.

In reality, of course, vitamins are completely safe and are dangerous ONLY to the pharmaceutical business, which sees that they undermine its disease market and reduce the outlet for dangerous patented drug compounds.

Fortunately, therefore, while the drip-feed of anti-vitamin stories sometimes seems never-ending, the fact that over two-thirds of the American public now use supplements suggests most people are no longer paying any attention and, instead, are quite rightly deciding for themselves what is best for their health.

Low vitamin D predicts aggressive prostate cancer

NEWS

A new study provides a major link between low levels of vitamin D and aggressive prostate cancer. Northwestern Medicine research showed deficient vitamin D blood levels in men can predict aggressive prostate cancer identified at the time of surgery.

COMMENT

With one in six men now expected to develop prostate cancer in their lifetimes, research is increasingly proving the effectiveness of vitamin D and other natural approaches in preventing and controlling this disease.

For example, a study carried out in 2015 by researchers from the Medical University of South Carolina in the United States found that vitamin D supplements may slow down or reverse the progression of low-grade prostate cancer tumors.

Similarly, a study published in 2015 in the medical journal Cancer Prevention Research confirmed that supplements containing green tea extract may help reduce the incidence of prostate cancer.

Researchers at the Dr. Rath Research Institute have also studied prostate cancer. However, rather than using the basic single nutrient approach that is still followed by most other researchers, they have been examining how a carefully chosen combination of nutrients – including vitamin C, lysine, proline, green tea extract, selenium and others – can simultaneously affect multiple mechanisms that cancer uses to overpower the body. From experience gained through developing and using this innovative micronutrient synergy approach, they have determined that the most effective results in prostate cancer are achieved by utilizing a carefully selected combination of micronutrients that act in biological synergy.

The director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce has resigned after saying the U.K. should leave the European Union.

COMMENT

With Britain’s referendum on its membership of the Brussels EU now officially scheduled for June 23, the resignation of John Longworth from his post as director-general of the powerful British Chambers of Commerce business group is a highly significant event.

Openly describing the dictatorial Brussels EU construct as “incapable of meaningful reform”, Longworth says he took the decision to resign from his position to enable him to speak out freely over the issue. The first influential figure to resign from a senior post over the issue of Britain’s upcoming referendum on the Brussels EU, he is unlikely to be the last.

High carotenoid intake linked to younger biological age

NEWS

Increased level of blood carotenoids may slow cellular ageing, says a new study from Seoul National University in Korea.

COMMENT

Orthodox pharmaceutical-based medicine would have us believe that increasing our intake of antioxidants and other micronutrients is dangerous and that it will not do anything to slow down the ageing process. As this study illustrates, however, arguably the biggest danger to our health is allowing ourselves to be fooled by such anti-natural health propaganda.

The two biggest killer diseases in the industrialized world are cardiovascular disease and cancer, both of which are now preventable and controllable through the use of natural approaches. As such, by taking advantage of the science of Cellular Medicine and reducing our risk of developing chronic diseases, we can all improve our chances of living longer and staying healthy right through to old age.

Thalidomide 'caused up to 10,000 miscarriages and infant deaths in UK'

NEWS

The thalidomide scandal may have led to 10,000 miscarriages, stillbirths and infant deaths in Britain, according to the former director of the trust that oversees payments to hundreds of people disabled by the drug taken by their pregnant mothers.

COMMENT

Originally marketed in the late 1950s as a treatment for morning sickness in pregnant women, thalidomide was eventually banned in 1962 after it was found to cause major birth defects. In all, the drug caused physical deformities in up to 12,000 infants. Of these, 5,000 survived beyond childhood.

Significantly therefore, secret files obtained by the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper in Australia reveal that Grunenthal, the German company that manufactured thalidomide, ignored and covered-up repeated warnings that the drug could damage unborn babies. In a vivid illustration of the nature of the ‘business with disease’, the documents show that even when there was evidence of harm the company was still giving the drug the all clear. How Vitamin D supplements can boost your health

NEWS

Vitamin D is just one of the several vitamins in your multivitamin that you take—or don’t take—every morning, right? Factually, yes. But the real question is whether or not it’s enough.

COMMENT

Evidence is mounting that the daily amounts of vitamin D recommended by government authorities and doctors are insufficient for ensuring optimum health. Studies have shown, for example, that increasing vitamin D intake does not merely help with bone health but can also reduce the risk of cancer, boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and help cognitive function.

In a vivid illustration of how strong the scientific evidence in favor of vitamin D supplementation has now become, a recent article published in the Wall Street Journal described how teams in all U.S. major leagues, some college athletic departments and the U.S. men’s and women’s soccer teams are all now believed to have started tracking their players’ levels and intake of it.

Given its proven benefits, and the high likelihood of deficiency wherever in the world we live, it is important that we all take steps to ensure we are getting a sufficient supply of vitamin D to ensure optimum health.

Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy may increase risk of MS in children

NEWS

Children of mothers with vitamin D deficiency during early pregnancy appeared to be at greater risk for multiple sclerosis (MS) in adulthood, according to an article published online by JAMA Neurology.

COMMENT

The latest in a long line of studies pointing to a link between vitamin D deficiency and the development of multiple sclerosis, there can be little doubt now that a lack of this essential micronutrient is associated with the occurrence of the disease.

The evidence showing this was significantly strengthened in a study published last year, which analyzed data on over 14 thousand people suffering from the disease and around 24 thousand without it. The researchers found that people with a genetic tendency to vitamin D deficiency were twice as likely to develop the disorder. By specifically looking at people with a genetic predisposition to vitamin D deficiency the researchers were essentially able to eliminate the possibility that people who already have multiple sclerosis may tend to stay indoors more, which would result in the levels of vitamin D in their bodies being lowered through infrequent exposure to sunlight. As such, with vitamin D insufficiency known to be widespread and supplementation being both safe and cost-effective, the researchers say their findings may have important public health implications.

Meanwhile, with other micronutrients such as coenzyme Q10biotinlipoic acidvitamin B12L-carnitine, polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E having also been shown to be helpful in controlling multiple sclerosis, the scientific evidence clearly shows that micronutrients offer a safe and effective treatment option for patients to consider.

Unless European citizens take action now, it will remain in place for generations to come and will subjugate the entire world under its control.

Due to its fundamentally undemocratic structure, with the EU Commission holding all executive power and the EU Parliament serving merely as a fig leaf, the construct of the ‘Brussels EU’ is not reformable.

It therefore needs to be publicly rejected by the people, dismantled, and eventually replaced by a truly democratic system of representation: a Europe of the people, by the people and for the people.

Omega-3 fatty acids may lower breast cancer risk in postmenopausal obese women

NEWS

Omega-3 fatty acids may lower the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal obese women, according to researchers.

COMMENT

Throughout our lives, omega-3 fatty acids play vital roles in maintaining our health. Required for the proper functioning of the heart, brain, eyes and other organs, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly crucial as the human body can only manufacture them in limited amounts.

Significantly, therefore, research suggests that supplementing our diets with these key micronutrients can provide a wide variety of impressive benefits to our health.

To learn more about omega-3 fatty acids and how they can enhance and protect your health, read this article on our Foundation website.

How Big Pharma greed is killing tens of thousands around the world: Patients are over-medicated and often given profitable drugs with 'little proven benefits,' leading doctors warn

NEWS

The Queen's former doctor has called for an urgent public enquiry into drugs firms’ ‘murky’ practices. Sir Richard Thompson, former-president of the Royal College of Physicians and personal doctor to the Queen for 21 years, warned tonight that many medicines are less effective than thought. The physician is one of a group of six eminent doctors who today warn about the influence of pharmaceutical companies on drugs prescribing.

COMMENT

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society described how older people taking multiple pharmaceutical drugs face a significantly greater risk of frailty, disability and death.

Providing further shocking evidence of the dangers of “polypharmacy”, the researchers found that each additional medication added to a patient’s regimen was associated with a 22% increased risk of going from a state of robust health to dying during the period of the study.

Peripheral Neuropathy In Cancer Patients Linked to Vitamin D

NEWS

The severity of peripheral neuropathy is associated with lower vitamin D levels among patients with multiple myeloma who have been treated with bortezomib and/or thalidomide, a study published in the journal Supportive Care in Cancerhas shown.

COMMENT

Radiation and chemotherapy, which have been used by conventional medicine for more than half a century to fight cancer, have one ‘therapeutic’ effect in common: they kill cancer cells and billions of healthy cells alike.

As such, it is hardly surprising that the resulting side-effects from these brutally toxic treatments can include damage to the body’s nervous system and problems such as peripheral neuropathy, with resulting numbness, weakness and sometimes excruciating pain. In this situation, the fact that the essential role of vitamins and other micronutrients in controlling cancer has thus far not been understood – let alone applied towards the control of the cancer epidemic – is no coincidence.

In fact, it has been deliberately neglected and withheld in the interests of the pharmaceutical investment business. To learn about natural approaches to controlling cancer that have been shown to block all key mechanisms that make it a deadly disease, visit the Victory Over Cancer website.

Gates Foundation: stop 'biopirated' GMO banana feeding trials

NEWS

The Gates Foundation has received a 57,000 strong petition denouncing its support for a 'biopirated' GM banana program in Africa, and calling on it to suspend a feeding trial on US students, writes Vanessa Amaral-Rogers. The banana threatens both the health of the students, say campaigners, and the future of African agriculture.

COMMENT

Although Bill Gates and his biotech buddies are desperate to convince you that feeding the world necessitates adopting GM crops, the fact is that global hunger is not caused by a lack of food.

The world already produces enough to feed the entire population of the planet. Instead, the principal causes of hunger and starvation are essentially related to the causes and effects of poverty. Moreover, and contrary to what the biotech industry would have you believe, GM crops are neither safe nor necessary to feed the world.

To learn how – had the political will existed – global hunger could have been ended a long time ago, read this article on our Foundation website.

From ‘Je Suis Charlie’ to Attacks on Free Speech

NEWS

After the murderous attack on the offices of the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo in January 2015, “Je suis Charlie” became a rallying cry in France and across much of Europe in support of free speech and freedom of expression. It is a sad and depressing sequel to that display of solidarity that so many European nations seem willing today to curtail those same freedoms in the name of fighting terrorism.

COMMENT

Our leaders are lying to us when they tell us that, in order to fight terrorism, they need to read our emails, listen to our phone conversations and track every movement we make.

Ultimately, the only reason for this gargantuan data collection is that they are afraid of us, the people, waking up and replacing the economic tools of the multinational corporate Oil and Drug Cartel via which they control us. For if this happens, the termination of the Cartel’s dictatorial rule over us will inevitably follow.

The only solution to this state of affairs is therefore to unmask the Cartel’s plans and enable the people of the world to look behind the curtain of deception that has been constructed to prevent them from learning the truth. For all of us who seek a world of health, peace and social justice, sharing the truth as widely as possible is simultaneously our best defence against dictatorship and our key means of bringing about positive change.

Vitamin K supplements may improve glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity: Review

NEWS

Supplements of vitamin K1 and K2 may help reduce the risk of diabetes by improving insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, says a new review of the scientific literature.

COMMENT

Conventional medicine is confined to treating the symptoms of adult onset diabetes by lowering elevated blood levels of sugar. However, cardiovascular disease and other diabetic complications still occur even in patients with controlled blood sugar levels.

As such, it is clear that lowering blood sugar levels, while necessary, comprises an incomplete treatment method for diabetic disorders. In contrast, Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach provides a breakthrough in our understanding of the causes, prevention and adjunct treatment of this serious health problem. As Dr. Rath has shown, the primary cause of adult onset diabetes is a long-term deficiency of certain micronutrients in the millions of cells in the pancreas (the organ that produces insulin); the liver and the blood vessel walls; as well as in other organs.

Significantly therefore, scientific research and clinical studies have documented the safety and effectiveness of vitamin C, vitamin E, certain B vitamins, chromium and other micronutrients in helping to normalize a diabetic metabolism. Painkiller trial that left one man dead and four others with brain damage had already killed dogs before it was tested on humans

NEWS

A painkiller that left one person dead and four others with suspected brain damage in a clinical trial in France had already killed several dogs in a previous test, according to French media.

COMMENT

The study referred to in this news story was carried out by Biotrial, a pharmaceutical research firm, and used healthy volunteers to determine the maximum tolerability of an experimental painkiller manufactured by Bial, a Portuguese drug maker.

The outcome has been described as the worst tragedy of its kind to have taken place in France. Significantly, however, in its headlines it is notable that much of the mass media portrayed the study as having simply been “botched”.

Apparently this word was chosen deliberately so as to give the impression that the researchers must have made a mistake, and to portray drugs and drug trials as normally being safe. But in reality the appalling result of the experiment was hardly an isolated incident.

A New Way to Get Your Daily Dose of Vitamin D

NEWS

In 2014 the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) — which acts as an advisory body to the National Health Service (NHS) — advised that as many as 10 million people in England could lack the requisite amount of vitamin D. Vitamin D is made when light is absorbed from the sun and is helpful in avoiding a number of serious health complications. Subsequently, a flurry of research into pills, supplements and other innovative methods of making up the deficit took place. One innovative method is to use an oral spray which has been shown to be more effective at raising vitamin D levels than tablets.

COMMENT

Having an insufficient supply of vitamin D has been linked to the development of type 2 diabetes; multiple sclerosis; osteoporosis and other bone problems; cancer; and many other health problems.

Significantly therefore, compared to traditional vitamin D tablets, scientists in the UK have found that delivering vitamin D to the body in an oral spray gives impressively elevated levels of the vitamin and works up to 50% quicker than pills. Are you getting enough of this essential nutrient to protect YOUR health?

UK National Health Service Officials Take Second Salaries from Pharma Firms

NEWS

Dozens of UK National Health Service officials with responsibility for deciding which drugs the service uses are also being paid as consultants by pharmaceutical firms, it has emerged, prompting the country’s Ministry of Health to order an inquiry into the allegations.

COMMENT

In a clear demonstration of the extent to which the Pharma Cartel controls the UK’s healthcare system, more than 130 officials from the country’s National Health Service are said to have lucrative second jobs as paid consultants to drug companies.

But as the shocking report published in 2005 by a British House of Commons departmental select committee shows, the influence of the pharmaceutical industry in the UK has long been an open secret within its government.

As such, with that report having essentially been buried, and no decisive measures implemented to reduce the Cartel’s influence, it would clearly be naïve to expect the UK Government’s active support for the ‘business with disease’ to cease anytime soon.

Study Advises Mothers to Give Newborns Vitamin D Supplements

NEWS

Breastfeeding has long been associated with increased health benefits for babies, as well as for mothers, but a new study points out that even breast milk may have limitations, especially as the infant gets older.

COMMENT

Significantly, the researchers in this study found that children who were breast-fed up to 36 months and did not take supplements were more likely to develop vitamin D deficiency, even though they had already started eating solid foods.

As this study reminds us, therefore, although a balanced diet is one of the best ways for everyone to obtain nourishment, the majority of children do not get enough micronutrients. Too few fresh fruits and vegetables, along with the consumption of highly processed food, results in chronic deficiencies of essential micronutrients in children that impair their growth and health, thus making them prone to diseases.

To read about a clinical evaluation of the health benefits of micronutrient supplementation in children, read this edition of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s fortnightly news page.

Surge in obesity and diabetes could be linked to food additives

NEWS

Ice cream lovers, look away now. Studies on a simulated human gut have added further evidence that emulsifiers, found in most processed foods, might be linked to obesity, diabetes and inflammatory bowel disorders.

COMMENT

Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach has shown that the primary cause of adult onset diabetes is a long-term deficiency of certain vitamins and other essential micronutrients in the millions of cells in the pancreas (the organ that produces insulin), the liver, the blood vessel walls, and other organs. In addition, there can surely now be little doubt that artificial food additives are dangerous to our health and that they may contribute to the development of health problems.

Revealingly, therefore, it turns out that many artificial additives are being manufactured by some of the same pharmaceutical and chemical companies that would like to ban vitamin supplements and force GM foods onto our dinner plates. And, as is similarly the case with pharmaceutical drugs and GM seeds, the real reason why artificial additives exist is because they can be patented.

It can thus be seen that the exact same business plan is being used for all three of these multibillion dollar product categories.

EU referendum: Cameron sets June date for UK vote

NEWS

The UK will vote on whether to remain in the EU on Thursday 23 June, Prime Minister David Cameron has said. The prime minister made his historic announcement in Downing Street after briefing the cabinet. He said he would be campaigning to remain in a reformed EU - and described the vote as one of the biggest decisions "in our lifetimes".

COMMENT

In stating that the UK’s upcoming referendum on its membership of the Brussels EU will be one of the biggest political decisions its citizens will make in their lifetimes, David Cameron is of course correct. However, in campaigning for the UK to remain a member of the dictatorial construct it is clear he is deliberately omitting to make any mention of the construct’s Nazi roots.

But he is hardly the first British leader to do so, of course. The true facts about the origins of the Brussels EU were similarly hidden prior to the UK’s first referendum on its membership of the undemocratic bloc, which took place on 6 June, 1975.

Significantly, therefore, in a revealing article published in the Independent newspaper in June 2005, the millionaire businessman, Alastair McAlpine, who acted as campaign treasurer for the ‘Yes’ side in the 1975 vote, admitted that “the banks and the big industrial companies put in very large sums of money” to the ‘Yes’ side. The Independent also described how, according to an organizer of the ‘Yes’ campaign, Caroline de Courcey Ireland, the ‘Yes’ side additionally had the benefit of money from the European Commission, whose funding was used to charter a series of 100-seater jet planes from British Caledonian airlines to fly almost 1,000 pro-European speakers to briefings given by top level Eurocrats.

Revealingly, de Courcey Ireland described the money as “a sort of special dispensation” from the Commission. In the run-up to their crucial vote on 23 June, the people of the UK should be prepared for even more skulduggery to be used by the Brussels EU in its desperate attempt to prevent them from leaving.

B vitamins may boost cognitive ability in older adults: Study

NEWS

Supplementation with vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid may improve cognitive function in older people with mild cognitive impairment, says a new study from Korea.

COMMENT

Evidence continues to grow regarding the effectiveness of B vitamins in improving cognitive function and controlling neurological problems.

In a particularly notable example, a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2015 found that supplements containing B vitamins can halt the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Carried out over a period of two years by scientists at University of Oxford in the UK, the study followed 168 elderly people and showed that a combination of B vitamins and high levels of omega-3 fatty acids prevented brain shrinkage, a hallmark of the devastating condition.

As such, by employing a micronutrient synergy-type approach, both this study and the Korean one provide further clinical evidence that the most effective supplementation can be achieved by utilizing carefully chosen combinations of nutrients acting in biological synergy.

Study attempts to claim vitamin C unsafe for liver cancer patients

NEWS

Researchers in Hong Kong are attempting to claim that taking high doses of vitamin supplements could hasten the development of cancer.

COMMENT

With scientific proof now available to show that a specific group of micronutrients can inhibit the invasion and spread of cancer cells, the Pharma Cartel and its stakeholders are getting desperate. As one of the key components of this group of micronutrients, vitamin C is increasingly therefore becoming the subject of propaganda scare-stories that attempt to dissuade people from using it to help control cancer.

However, if you choose to follow the cancer orthodoxy and believe these absurd scare-stories, the disease will inevitably continue to spread and kill people in epidemic proportions. But if your goal is to help prevent cancer by science-based natural means – and one-day even end the cancer epidemic – we encourage you to learn the truth about cancer and share it as widely as possible.

A world without cancer will only be possible if enough of us act together and take positive steps towards educating others and ending this disease. If you would like to volunteer some of your time to work with us towards this noble goal, please contact us, we’ll be very glad to hear from you.
