Post-Brexit EU unsustainable in its present form

NEWS

The European Union, as it's currently constructed, is unsustainable in its current form, a global ratings agency has warned.

COMMENT

The UK’s Brexit referendum decision on June 23 was a historic victory for democracy and the first step towards creating a better Europe. Moreover, despite how sections of the European and global media are trying to portray it, the result was not a victory for xenophobia or racism. To the contrary, it was a vote by a majority of concerned British citizens who refuse to allow the dictatorial construct in Brussels to determine all aspects of their lives.

The British referendum result – which fundamentally questions the legitimacy of the Brussels EU construct – is also a signal for millions of Europeans who are interested in the prevention of diseases: With the walls of the Brussels EU now crumbling, a new Europe is emerging with preventive healthcare being one of its founding pillars.

To learn how the demise of the Brussels EU will enable the rise of a Europe for the People, by the People, read this article on our Foundation website.

EU approves imports of genetically modified Monsanto soybeans

NEWS

The European Commission has approved the import and processing of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans, after debates over glyphosate herbicide’s safety delayed the introduction of genetically modified soybean variety for months.

COMMENT

By approving imports of Monsanto’s GM soybeans despite surveys repeatedly showing an overwhelming majority of citizens across Europe being opposed to GM foods, the Brussels EU construct has demonstrated yet again that its primary function is to represent corporate interests. In doing so, it knows that patents on GM seeds, and the multi-billion dollar potential profits and market control that result from them, act as powerful incentives for biotech manufacturers to find ways of forcing these foods onto consumers' dinner plates – regardless of the possible dangers to human health.

Towards our goal of making natural preventive health approaches a human right, the vision of our Foundation is that the fruits and vegetables we plant and eat should be organically grown and free of pesticides and GMOs. Air pollution causes wrinkles and premature ageing, new research shows

NEWS

Air pollution is prematurely ageing the faces of city dwellers by accelerating wrinkles and age spots, according to emerging scientific research.

COMMENT

At the beginning of the 21st century, the economic and political fate of our planet is dominated by global corporate interests whose primary interest is in maintaining the status quo. The much-publicized banking crisis is just a symptom of this problem. The root cause of the problem is the ongoing systematic drainage of the global economy by three key dominating sectors: the pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical investment businesses. Air pollution in our cities and towns – as well as the pollution of our water supplies – is a direct result of the domination these industrial sectors have achieved in the past century over our lives and economies.

Fortunately, therefore, scientifically-proven alternatives to the Oil and Drug Cartel’s products – that could enable mankind to liberate itself from these corporate interests – are already available. For example, around the world, renewable energy is already replacing fossil fuels. In the area of health, natural compounds such as vitamins and phytobiologicals are proving far superior to synthetic pharmaceutical drugs in essentially all areas of medicine. Mindful of this, the aim of our Movement of Life project is to create hands-on pilot projects with the goal of liberating the world from the tyranny of control by multinational corporations in the areas of health, food, water, energy, knowledge, and work.

If you feel as strongly about the importance of these issues as we do, contact us and let’s talk about how we can work together to make a difference where you live.

Supplements appear to help boost US vitamin D levels

NEWS

The vitamin D status of the US population is improving, coinciding with the use of higher vitamin D supplement doses, says a new study from the US CDC and the Office of Dietary Supplements.

COMMENT

While this is of course positive news, it is important to understand that no single vitamin works alone in the body. As important as vitamin D is, the fact is that a wide variety of different vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other micronutrients are required in order to maintain the normal functions of the body. Micronutrients participate in complex metabolic processes and interact with other nutrients either by enhancing or opposing their action. Their optimal interaction and cellular balance is the very basis of health.

Moreover, supplementing with very large doses of any one nutrient can worsen deficiencies of others. With time, the use of random combinations of nutrients can create a metabolic imbalance in the body. This is often the reason why some clinical studies using a single vitamin or a random combination of micronutrients give inconsistent results.

In contrast, the many years of scientific research carried out at the Dr. Rath Research Institute under the direction of Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki have proven that the most effective approach to micronutrient supplementation is achieved by applying specific and properly selected micronutrient combinations acting in biological synergy. To learn more about this approach, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s health newsletter.

Eat eight fruit & vegetable portions to feel happier, study says

NEWS

Increasing fruit and vegetable intake to eight-a-day can make people happier, according to new research that challenges current European nutritional recommendations.

COMMENT

Fruits and vegetables were the primary source of nutrition for our ancestors over millennia. As a result, the metabolism of our body today is dependent on an optimum intake of the bioactive micronutrients contained in them.

As Dr. Rath explains in the Barletta Declaration, knowledge about the micronutrient content of fruits and vegetables and their powerful health benefits has to become a key element in any education program that aims towards creating a truly preventive system of healthcare. Unlike the pharmaceutical-based business with disease, which concentrates on maintaining and expanding health problems as a precondition for its financial growth, the focus of a proper preventive approach aims at averting and correcting the malfunctioning of the body before diseases develop.

Sharing knowledge about the vitamin C content of citrus fruits, the polyphenol content of green tea or the micronutrients contained in sweet potatoes, cruciferous plants, grapes and other plants, and their role in optimizing cellular metabolism, will help create the decisive links between nutritional and Cellular Medicine and provide the basis for a truly preventive approach to healthcare.

Snoop Dogg To Perform At DNC, Courtesy Of Big Pharma

NEWS

When celebrities, high-level party operatives and the blue blazer-and-khaki crowd of staffers and journalists join together for the highly publicized Snoop Dogg concert immediately following presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, they’ll be doing so thanks to funding from two of the biggest lobbying forces in Washington.

COMMENT

The Pharma Cartel understands very well that, in order to control public opinion, it has to buy political influence and be seen to have support from celebrities and other prominent public figures. Faced now with the growing worldwide realization that its drugs do not address the root cause of chronic diseases, the Cartel is spending large sums of money in its efforts to stem the tide of its plummeting credibility.

Ultimately, however, these efforts will inevitably fail. No amount of celebrity endorsement or political influence will be able to hide the history of the pharma industry, or the fact that it is the largest deception and fraud business the world has ever seen.

If they truly want to increase credibility with their fans, celebrities would be better advised to engage themselves in helping to spread the life-saving benefits of nutritional health and Cellular Medicine, and to building a new, prevention-oriented system of health care for our planet. For it is in this direction, not that of the fraudulent Pharma Cartel and its discredited political stakeholders, where the health interests of the people of the world are increasingly now headed.

Goldman Sachs Hires Former European Commission President

NEWS

Goldman Sachs said on Friday that it had hired José Manuel Barroso, the former European Commission president and former prime minister of Portugal, as an adviser and nonexecutive chairman of its Goldman Sachs International arm.

COMMENT

Less publicized than his taking a job with Goldman Sachs is the fact that Barroso has also joined the Steering Committee for the clandestine Bilderberg Group. The invitation-only annual meetings of this secretive organization serve as a venue for political leaders to meet in private with senior representatives from industry, finance, academia, and the media. So non-transparent are their discussions that no minutes are supposedly taken, no report is written, and no policy statements are issued.

In a vivid illustration of how the Bilderberg Group actively facilitates the famed “revolving door” between politics and industry, it is notable that Robert Zoellick, Chairman of the Board of International Advisors of the Goldman Sachs Group, is similarly a member of Bilderberg’s Steering Committee. This is significant because, according to a report on the CNBC website, talks between Goldman Sachs and Barroso had been going on for about a year before he was eventually hired. Seemingly, therefore, the talks were initiated at around the same time as Zoellick, Barroso, and the then Goldman Sachs International Chairman, Peter Sutherland, attended the 11-14 June 2015 Bilderberg meeting in Telfs-Buchen, Austria, together. All quite coincidentally, of course.

Why Google wants your medical records

NEWS

Google's DeepMind has moved on from playing Go to more serious matters - attempting to solve some of the world's biggest health problems.

COMMENT

Google's entry on to the healthcare scene has quite rightly concerned both privacy groups and patients alike, who have found to their surprise that their medical records – in some cases not even anonymized – are being shared with the internet giant. Notably, therefore, when digging beneath the hype behind some of Google’s other new medical ventures, one finds major parallels with the pharma industry’s business model.

While they may appear to be hi-tech, Google’s healthcare approaches do not address the primary cause of chronic diseases. Instead, the deficiencies of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other micronutrients that are at the very root of the development of chronic diseases are simply being ignored. As the pharma industry has long proven, this is a highly profitable approach as it ensures that patients’ diseases and health problems will continue to occur and require treatment.

But patients don’t have to pin their hopes and lives on multibillion-dollar hi-tech projects that fail to address the primary causes of diseases. Instead, they can take advantage of the existing cutting edge science behind Cellular Medicine and other nutritional approaches. Not only are these approaches already available, they are scientifically proven and have long been shown to be safe. For our Foundation, science – not hype – is the only way forward.

Study shows 3-carotenoid formula boosts visual performance for non-impaired subjects

NEWS

Researchers in Ireland have concluded via a long term trial that supplementation with three carotenoids—lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin—can improve the visual performance of subjects who had normal vision to start.

COMMENT

Science shows that various specific micronutrients are of crucial importance for supporting optimum visual performance. For example, micronutrients such as lutein, zeaxanthin, cryptoxanthin, beta carotene, zinc, bioflavonoids, and vitamins A and C are essential for the proper functioning of cells in the retina and macula.

The optic nerve carrying signals and light impulses from the retina to the brain consists of approximately 1 million nerve cells. Natural nutrients such as the amino acid cysteine, vitamins C and E, and lipoic acid all work in synergy to protect physical functions of the optic nerve.

The blood vessels that supply blood and nourishment to the eyes are made of cells that require the amino acid arginine for contraction and relaxation, and vitamin C to ensure optimum collagen production to support blood vessel strength and integrity. Vitamin C is known to reduce ocular pressure in the eyes, however the content of vitamin C in the eyes naturally decreases with age and requires additional supplementation.

To learn more about the benefits of micronutrients for healthy eyes, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s health newsletter.

Only 1/5 global population meet 'ideal' vitamin E levels: Review

NEWS

Only a fifth of the world’s population are receiving the recommended vitamin E intake, a review has concluded, placing a heightened risk for conditions affecting the immune system, cognitive function and cardiovascular health.

COMMENT

When reading this news story, keep in mind that the so-called “ideal” levels of vitamin E cited in the review are essentially only based on the miserly daily intakes promoted by government authorities. Clearly, therefore, the proportion of people who are getting optimum amounts will be far smaller than a fifth.

As Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach describes, maintaining health, preventing ill-health, and controlling diseases requires optimum dietary supplementation. Contrary to the dietary intakes promoted by government authorities, Dr. Rath’s approach advocates supplementation with specific groups of micronutrients that are chosen and balanced according to the micronutrient synergy method.

In short, achieving the “ideal” dietary intakes of micronutrients promoted by government authorities is one thing – but achieving optimum health is entirely another.

Acetaminophen during pregnancy linked to autism

NEWS

Boys exposed before birth to a popular pain reliever in many brands including Tylenol were more likely to have symptoms of autism during childhood, according to a new study of mothers and children in Spain.

COMMENT

A scientific review published in 2015 looked at the risks of taking acetaminophen (paracetamol) on a long-term basis and found that its dangers are seemingly being underestimated even by clinicians. Published online in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, researchers from the UK examined eight studies assessing the association between chronic use of the painkiller and major adverse events.

Contrary to the general impression given by the pharma industry and its stakeholders that acetaminophen is a safe “cure-all” drug, the researchers discovered that long term use of it raises the risk of heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, renal failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, and early death. As a result, they recommended that research needs to be conducted into the drug’s effectiveness and tolerability.

No less significantly, a study published earlier this year provided further confirmation of a link between exposure to acetaminophen and the risk of developing asthma in childhood. Published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, the analysis found that taking acetaminophen during pregnancy, or administering it to babies during infancy, is associated with the child developing asthma a few years later. Providing clear evidence of the dangers of acetaminophen, the researchers were also able to specifically eliminate the possibility that the asthma cases recorded were instead caused by the medical problem the drug was taken for.

Based on the accumulating evidence, acetaminophen is arguably one of the most dangerous over-the-counter drugs available.

Chilcot Report on Iraq War Offers Devastating Critique of Tony Blair

NEWS

Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain went to war alongside the United States in Iraq in 2003 on the basis of flawed intelligence that went unchallenged, a shaky legal rationale, inadequate preparation and exaggerated public statements, an independent inquiry into the war concluded in a report published on Wednesday.

COMMENT

The evidence contained in the Chilcot Report provides further proof that we were absolutely RIGHT to submit our Complaint against Blair and others to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague in 2003.

With the formal submission of our Complaint, some of the greatest crimes ever committed in the course of human history were brought to international awareness. Blair, George W. Bush and others were publicly charged by us in the Complaint with causing injury to, and the deaths of, millions of people through the ‘business with disease’, war crimes, and other crimes against humanity.

Blair and the others we accused have always known they will be held accountable for their crimes. Significantly, therefore, with the release of the evidence in the Chilcot Report, an important step has been taken towards bringing Blair – one of the chief perpetrators – to justice.

Italy ponders high-dose vitamin reclassification

NEWS

Italy could ban high-dose vitamin and mineral supplements after a nutrition committee recommended vitamin B12 (cobalamin) above 500 micrograms (ug) was medicinal.

COMMENT

During the first few years of the twenty-first century, pro-pharmaceutical and anti-natural health forces made significant strides towards their ultimate aim of removing all higher-dose, innovative and effective micronutrient supplements from the global marketplace. With the passing in Europe of the Food Supplements Directive in 2002, for example, and the subsequent adoption by the Codex Alimentarius Commission of its global Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Food Supplements in 2005, stringent restrictions on the maximum permitted levels of nutrients contained in supplements, enforceable on a global scale, seemed just around the corner.

However, while no such maximum permitted levels have thus far been set, either in Europe or globally, the threat hasn’t gone away. Instead, the pro-pharmaceutical and anti-natural health forces are trying to disguise their goals by claiming that the maximum permitted levels for each nutrient will be calculated via a process known as “scientific risk assessment”. In reality, however, the standard methodologies being advocated for such assessments are generally anything but scientific, and are actually deeply flawed.

Zinc lozenges help most patients recover earlier from the common cold

NEWS

Zinc acetate lozenges may reduce the duration of the common cold by nearly 3 days, according to a recent analysis.

COMMENT

Unfortunately, even many doctors do not yet fully appreciate the extent to which micronutrients support all the critical steps for mounting an effective immune response to infections. For example, it is now well established that vitamin C, vitamin A, and the B vitamins, as well as trace elements including zinc, iron, selenium, copper, and others, are essential for optimizing white blood cell production and immune function.

It is also known that no single nutrient alone can ensure optimum health and that, instead, a complete spectrum of micronutrients is needed to synergistically support the immune system and enable it to function properly. This is the approach promoted by Cellular Medicine, which focuses on nutrient synergy for optimizing cellular metabolism and restoring its balance.

Research conducted at the Dr. Rath Research Institute under the direction of Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki has shown that the nutrient synergy approach is more effective than the use of single nutrients, or their random combination, in addressing specific physiological tasks such as improving the synthesis and functioning of infection-fighting blood cells and stopping infectious agents from spreading. Utilizing this approach can provide effective health solutions through improving the general immunity of the body and supporting its physiological functioning.

More Evidence That Antiepileptic Drugs Are Linked To Vitamin D Deficiency In Children

NEWS

Long-term use of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) is associated with vitamin D deficiency, even in sub-tropical countries, according to a study at the University of Malaya, in Malaysia.

COMMENT

One of the biggest secrets in the pharmaceutical industry today is that drugs deplete the body of vitamins, minerals, and other essential micronutrients.

Literally hundreds of studies now exist proving that around 150 different classes of drugs cause nutrient depletion. In some cases, such as research showing that aspirin increases the urinary excretion of vitamin C, this knowledge has existed for 80 years now.

So why is this important information still not being communicated to patients? Part of the reason is that even doctors themselves have been kept ignorant and have essentially not been taught about it in medical school. This is no accident, of course, as it simply serves to protect the financial interests of the trillion-dollar-a-year pharmaceutical business with disease.

We encourage doctors and therapists who want to learn more about this important issue to read the Drug-Induced Nutrient Depletion Handbook.

Painkiller panel drops experts linked to pharma industry

NEWS

A group advising the Food and Drug Administration on medical issues abruptly dropped four experts from a panel on prescription painkillers after concerns emerged about apparent ties to the pharmaceutical industry. The panel gathered in Washington on Wednesday for its first meeting, tasked with developing recommendations for the FDA on combating the problem of painkiller abuse and misuse.

COMMENT

In order to maintain its ‘business with disease’, the pharma industry has strategically developed stakeholders not only in government regulatory agencies, but also in the management and provision of national health services.

In a recent example of this, an investigation in the UK found that more than 130 officials employed in the country’s National Health Service (NHS) have simultaneously been paid as consultants by pharmaceutical companies. The officials concerned, most of whom are believed to be managers or other senior administrators, are involved in assessing which drugs the NHS should give to patients. Suggesting the actual number who have been taking money from the pharma industry may even be higher than thus far reported, the Daily Telegraph, the British newspaper that uncovered the story, describes the problem as being “systemic” within the NHS.

At the global level, the reality is that pharma-related conflicts of interest such as these are now endemic in orthodox medicine. To understand why the global healthcare system is broken, and how only natural health education can fix it, read this article on our Foundation website.

Magnesium Supplements May Help to Lower Blood Pressure

NEWS

Getting enough magnesium may help keep blood pressure under control, a new meta-analysis of previous research finds.

COMMENT

While an optimum supply of magnesium certainly plays an important role in maintaining normal blood pressure, it is not the only factor. Other nutrients – such as vitamin C, coenzyme Q10, and the amino acids arginine, lysine and proline – are similarly essential for preventing and correcting this life-threatening health problem.

As Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine approach describes, the main cause of high blood pressure is a chronic deficiency of essential nutrients in millions of artery wall cells. Among other functions, these cells are responsible for the production of “relaxing factors” which decrease vascular wall tension and help keep the blood pressure within normal range. A chronic deficiency of essential nutrients can result in spasms and a thickening of the blood vessel walls, which can eventually elevate blood pressure.

To learn more about the roles that essential nutrients play in maintaining normal blood pressure, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s health newsletter and chapter 4 of Dr. Rath’s classic book, Why Animals Don’t Get Heart Attacks…But People Do.

Researchers claim multivitamins 'are a waste of money' for pregnant women

NEWS

Multivitamins are a waste of money for pregnant women because most mothers-to-be do not need them, researchers claim in a review published in the British Medical Journal’s Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin.

COMMENT

Contrary to the claims of these researchers, an optimal supply of supplemental micronutrients during pregnancy can help ensure the well-being of both mother and child. A study carried out by the Dr. Rath Research Institute, for example, shows that a specific combination of micronutrients can support normal uterine contractions. During pregnancy, abnormal and untimely uterine contractions can lead to premature labor and preterm birth.

Prenatal multivitamin supplementation is also known to be associated with a decreased risk for pediatric brain tumors, neuroblastoma, and leukemia. Similarly, maternal consumption of folic acid-containing prenatal multivitamins is associated not only with a decreased risk of neural tube defects, but also of several congenital anomalies.

While the authors of the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin review quite rightly advocate “a healthy, varied diet including fresh fruit and vegetables” for all women who are either pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, the fact is that independent studies conducted in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and other countries prove that the nutrient content of our food has fallen substantially over the past few decades. As such, it is essentially not possible for food alone to supply pregnant women with optimum amounts of all the various micronutrients they need either for themselves or their developing child.

Many drugs can cause or worsen heart failure, cautions new statement

NEWS

Commonly used medications and nutritional supplements may cause or worsen heart failure, according to the first scientific statement from the American Heart Association to provide guidance on avoiding drug-drug or drug-condition interactions for people with heart failure.

COMMENT

New studies presented at Heart Failure 2016 and the 3rd World Congress on Acute Heart Failure, which recently took place in Florence, Italy, provide damning evidence of the continued inability of orthodox medicine to prevent and treat this debilitating cardiovascular problem. With one in three heart failure patients still not having returned to work one year after being hospitalized for the first time, and one in four developing the condition within four years of suffering a first heart attack, it is clear that orthodox approaches are not addressing the primary cause of this disease.

In contrast, researchers from the Dr. Rath Research Institute have conducted a successful pilot clinical trial in heart failure patients aged between 41 and 68 years old. The participants took a specific combination of micronutrients for a period of six months. At the beginning of the study, 70 percent of them were suffering from an extensive impairment of cardiovascular health which significantly affected their daily lives. Thirty percent of patients reported a moderate limitation of their daily physical activities.

At the end of the study period, 80 percent of the patients reported improvement in their health condition by one or more grades on the New York Heart Association scale. Impressively, half of the patients could lead normal lives again without any discomfort or associated symptoms. Overall, the results showed remarkably improved cardiac pumping action and a superior quality of life for the patients. As such, the study provided further evidence that micronutrient supplementation is the only effective way to provide bio-energy for the optimum functioning of heart muscle cells.

Pesticides were found in the hair samples of schoolchildren, and parents are fighting back

NEWS

BAKERSFIELD, CA – For decades, parents and community leaders in this part of rural Kern County have fought to make sure their children are protected from pesticide exposure, with some victories and some loses.

COMMENT

In a truly preventive healthcare system, the fruits and vegetables we plant and eat should be organically grown and free of pesticides. With pesticide exposure being linked to a myriad of health problems, it is simply unacceptable for children to be exposed to these dangerous chemicals in the environment.

So far as pesticides ingested through the diet are concerned, a study conducted in the United States has shown that switching from conventionally grown fruits and vegetables to produce grown organically, even just for a few days, significantly reduces the levels of pesticides in children's bodies. Examining 40 children between 3 and 6 years of age, researchers from the Center for Environmental Research and Children's Health at UC Berkeley found that an organic diet quickly lowered their levels of several pesticides by between one-quarter and one-half.

But as Dr. Rath points out in the Barletta Declaration, change will not come by itself – we need to organize it! By creating a home vegetable garden, learning about composting and natural, sustainable approaches to growing food, not only can you save money and protect your health, you can also contribute towards creating a world in which Free Food for All and a healthy environment become a reality for us all.

Kudos! DHA supplements during pregnancy could save US healthcare system $6 billion

NEWS

Universal supplementation with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) during the last two trimesters of pregnancy may save the US healthcare system billions of dollars, says a new study.

COMMENT

Yet again, here we have further convincing evidence that the use of dietary supplements can reduce national healthcare costs. This latest research follows hot on the heels of a recent report which found that if all over 55s in Europe took 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids every day, annual savings of around €12.9bn could be made in European cardiovascular disease health care spending.

The key obstacle preventing natural approaches from being implemented into national healthcare policies is the pharmaceutical ‘business with disease’, which now earns over one trillion dollars a year from the continued existence of diseases.

In no small part, overcoming this obstacle requires all of us getting involved to help spread natural health education. In other words, we have to share the new scientific understanding that micronutrient deficiencies are the primary cause of chronic diseases and that, through ensuring an optimum supply to our bodies of these health-giving substances, malfunctions of the body can safely and effectively be prevented.

As Dr. Rath describes in the Barletta Declaration, our Foundation is committed to making every effort to spread the life-saving benefits of nutritional health and Cellular Medicine and to building a new, prevention-oriented system of healthcare for our planet. If you’re interested to talk with us about how such an approach can be implemented where you live, please contact us, we’ll look forward to hearing from you!

Many elderly are prescribed antihypertensive medication despite already having low blood pressure

NEWS

According to a new study in the journal Age and Ageing, a significant proportion of patients over 70 remain on antihypertensive medication despite having low blood pressure. This, the study argues, has a significant effect on increased mortality rates and admissions to hospital.

COMMENT

As this study essentially illustrates, when prescribed drugs for high blood pressure patients are usually told that there is no alternative but to take them for the rest of their lives. Because of this, and despite the side-effects they endure, patients are frightened into believing there are no natural alternatives available.

However, Dr. Rath’s breakthrough understanding of the root cause of high blood pressure opens up a new possibility for controlling it. As he has shown, the main cause of this health problem is a chronic deficiency of essential micronutrients in the millions of smooth muscle cells lining the blood vessel walls. Nutrients such as vitamin C, lysine, proline, arginine, magnesium, and others are critical for maintaining the strength and elasticity of the blood vessels – and thereby for maintaining normal blood pressure.

To learn how the micronutrient synergy approach helps in high blood pressure, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s natural health newsletter.

Living longer associated with living healthier, study of centenarians finds

NEWS

Research has shown that the human lifespan has the potential to be extended. But would this merely mean people living longer in poor health? The upbeat findings from a new study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society indicate that those extra years could well be healthy ones. In a study of nearly 3,000 people, the onset of illness came decades later in life for centenarians than for their younger counterparts.

COMMENT

Frailty and ill health are not inevitable parts of the ageing process. To the contrary, through the use of Dr. Rath’s groundbreaking Cellular Medicine approach it is now possible for all of us to live longer, healthier lives. Cellular Medicine defines an optimum daily intake of specific micronutrients as a basic preventative measure for maintaining health, and the effective and safe control of many pathological conditions.

Selecting the most effective nutritional supplementation is not an easy task, however. This is especially the case considering that most of the dietary supplements you find on the shelves of your local health food store are either individual compounds or randomly combined ingredients that are selected according to marketing trends.

But in a key scientific breakthrough our scientific researchers have introduced a new principle in modern nutrition. Based on the careful selection and proper combining of micronutrients, thus maximizing their biological impact, they call it "micronutrient synergy". To learn about it, read this issue of the Dr. Rath Research Institute’s natural health newsletter.

Heightened liver cancer risk linked to low selenium levels: Study

NEWS

Low levels of selenium have been linked with an increased risk of developing liver cancer, according to a study, which blamed western diets and lifestyles for the deficiency.

COMMENT

At the beginning of the 21st Century, cancer remains one of the largest epidemics of mankind. Every year this disease takes the lives of 7.5 million patients worldwide. To put this figure into perspective, over the past half century more than 300 million people have died from cancer – a number equivalent to the entire population of the United States of America! And yet, despite all the money raised by the large cancer charities and the almost $80 billion that the drug industry earns from this industry every year, the cancer epidemic is still expanding. So what can we conclude from this?

Well, if the incidence of a disease continues to increase, it either means that the mechanisms for its control have not yet been discovered or that they are not being applied in medical practice. Conventional approaches such as chemotherapy and radiation – that have been used on cancer patients for over half a century – have obviously failed to curb the cancer epidemic. Thus, they can no longer be considered a credible answer to it. There is therefore an urgent need for new, effective approaches to control this disease.

To learn about natural approaches to cancer that have been shown to block all key mechanisms that make it a deadly disease, read the book Victory Over Cancer by Dr. Rath and Dr. Aleksandra Niedzwiecki and watch their interview in Ty Bollinger’s video documentary ‘The Truth About Cancer’.

'How I beat MS': 17 years after being diagnosed, this doctor is symptom-free, thanks to a simple 7-step plan other experts now hail

NEWS

George Jelinek will never forget the day he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. ‘It was Sunday, April 19, 1999, at about 4pm,’ he says. ‘In an instant I felt the bottom fall out of my world.

COMMENT

Orthodox medicine has no cure for multiple sclerosis (MS). However, as this doctor learned, this disease – just like many others – can be beaten using natural approaches. Towards this goal, a healthy diet providing optimum levels of micronutrients is essential.

Notably, in recent years, evidence has been mounting that a lack of vitamin D may increase the risk of developing multiple sclerosis. A study published in 2015 in the online journal Public Library of Science (PLOS) Medicine found that people with a genetic tendency to vitamin D deficiency were twice as likely to develop the debilitating neurological disorder. Analyzing data on over 14 thousand people suffering from the disease and around 24 thousand without it, the researchers say their findings may have important public health implications.

While the researchers qualify their findings by saying it may be too much to expect therapeutic vitamin D alone to treat or reverse pre-existing multiple sclerosis, the fact is that other micronutrients such as coenzyme Q10biotinlipoic acidvitamin B12L-carnitine, polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E have similarly been shown to be helpful in controlling it. As such, with information on nutritional and Cellular Medicine now freely available on the internet, how quickly multiple sclerosis can be eradicated may well depend not upon politicians or doctors, but on patients, and those at risk from the disease, taking matters into their own hands and educating themselves and others.

Drug firm accused of 'appalling deception on a grand scale'

NEWS

A pharmaceutical company has been accused of "appalling deception on a grand scale" after surreptitiously attempting to market prostate cancer drugs to doctors.

COMMENT

Notably, the drug company concerned, Astellas UK, has been suspended from its membership of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry over what are being described as “serious breaches” of its code of practice. However, we should not assume from this that the pharmaceutical industry’s influence on the practice of medicine in the UK is now under control.

A recent investigation found that more than 130 officials employed in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) have simultaneously been paid as consultants by pharmaceutical companies.

Ultimately, the choice now facing the people of the UK and the world is a very simple one: Either we allow this and all future generations of mankind to become completely dependent on the Pharma Cartel and be controlled by its stakeholders, or we take responsibility for creating a new prevention-oriented healthcare system that is run for the people and by the people. In the coming years, whether we are successful in saving millions of lives will be determined by all of us, collectively, making the right choice.

Omega-3s shows potential for PTSD: Study

NEWS

People suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may benefit from daily omega-3 supplements, says a new study from Japan.

COMMENT

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential nutrients required for maintaining normal functioning of the brain. Notably, therefore, neuroimaging has found physical changes in the brains of patients diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In another study demonstrating the usefulness of omega-3 fatty acids to mental health, researchers have found this category of nutrients can help treat major depression. As with post-traumatic stress disorder, physical changes have similarly been shown in the brains of patients suffering from this condition.

Examining 13 randomized placebo-controlled trials involving 1,233 patients diagnosed with major depression, the researchers noted that higher doses of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) were especially beneficial. With awareness growing of the important roles played by omega-3 fatty acids in the control and prevention of a wide range of diseases, it is clear that ensuring an optimum supply of these essential micronutrients can enhance and protect our health.

Brexit contagion: UK vote raises fears of a tsunami of EU membership referendums

NEWS

The shock decision by the British people to leave the European Union has triggered fears that Europe could be enveloped by a “tsunami” of referendums across the continent as insurgent anti-EU parties look to capitalise on the momentous UK vote.

COMMENT

The vote by the people of Great Britain to leave the ‘Brussels EU’ was a historic victory for democracy and the first step towards creating a better Europe. Moreover, despite how sections of the European and global media are already trying to portray it, this was not a victory for xenophobia or racism. It was a vote by a majority of concerned British citizens who refuse to allow the dictatorial construct in Brussels to determine all aspects of their lives. The result was a resounding victory of democracy over corporate dictatorship.

The inevitable consequences of the British referendum will be the demise of the ‘Brussels EU’ and the rise of a Europe for the People, by the People. The only question remaining now is not whether these things will happen, but when.

New study finds link between omega-3 supplementation and reduced hospital stays

NEWS

A new meta-analysis published in Clinical Nutrition found that cardiac surgery patients who received omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (compared to placebo) in advance of surgery experienced reduced postoperative cardiac arrhythmias and significantly reduced the length of hospital stay by up to 2.4 days. The results are based on 11 RCT's with 1038 patients.

COMMENT

There is no doubt now that the use of micronutrient supplements can reduce national healthcare costs. The potential savings to be made by implementing such approaches into national healthcare strategies are truly astronomical. A study published in 2011 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) found that the total economic impact of just the five leading chronic diseases alone – cancer, diabetes, mental illness, heart disease, and respiratory disease – could reach $47 trillion by 2030. Following the publication of this study, the WEF’s senior director of health admitted publicly – as we ourselves have been saying for many years now – that this outcome has the potential to bankrupt national healthcare systems.

With millions of lives and national economies at stake, we urge you to share this important information as widely as possible through your personal contacts and social networks. As we have said many times in the past, a new healthcare system is possible – but it depends on all of us, acting together, to bring it about.

Study links omega-3s to reduced mortality

NEWS

A recent meta-analysis in Scientific Reports supports a link between EPA and DHA omega-3 intake and a reduced risk of death by any cause. The meta-analysis included 11 studies involving 371,965 participants and 31,185 death events, with a subset of the studies being used for different analyses.

COMMENT

Throughout our lives, omega-3 fatty acids play vital roles in maintaining our health. Required for the proper functioning of the heart, brain, eyes and other organs, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly crucial as the human body can only manufacture them in limited amounts. Over the past couple of decades, a succession of studies has shown that omega-3 fatty acids are helpful in preventing and controlling diseases such as cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, cancer and others.

Recent research has added to our knowledge regarding this important class of micronutrients by finding they can also help reduce inflammation in chronic kidney disease, treat major depression and, when combined with B vitamins, stop the development of Alzheimer’s disease. The latter of these findings is especially important as, when carefully chosen and correctly balanced, combining micronutrients in groups is by far the most effective approach towards ensuring optimal health.

Pioneered over many years by Dr. Rath, Dr. Niedzwiecki and their team of world-class scientific researchers, studies utilizing this approach have found that the best results are achieved through the use of scientifically designed micronutrient combinations acting in biological synergy. You can learn more about these studies by visiting the website of the Dr. Rath Research Institute.

Broccoli Sprout Extract May Protect Against Oral Cancer Recurrence

NEWS

Potent doses of broccoli sprout extract activate a “detoxification” gene and may help prevent cancer recurrence in survivors of head and neck cancer, according to a trial by the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, partner with UPMC CancerCenter, confirming preliminary results presented last year at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting.

COMMENT

Scientific research has proven that specific plant components can provide a wide variety of beneficial health effects. Broccoli sprouts, for example, have been shown to be an exceptionally rich source of inducers of enzymes that protect against chemical carcinogens. Other beneficial components of plants that have been extensively studied by scientific researchers include green tea extracts, quercetin, resveratrol, curcumin, and extracts from cruciferous vegetables.

The 'cheesy' vitamin that boosts bones: Substance found in chicken liver could mean an end for osteoporosis

NEWS

A top hospital has launched a clinical trial into the use of Vitamin K supplements for those with osteoporosis – the condition in which poor bone strength increases the risk of fractures and, for some, makes even standing and walking painful.

COMMENT

A common misperception is that vitamin D and calcium are the only nutrients needed for healthy bones. However, this belief overlooks the fact that the framework of the bone on which calcium and other minerals are deposited is made of a protein – collagen.

Without healthy collagen, bone cannot form or function properly. Healthy bone formation therefore depends not only on sufficient amounts of calcium and vitamin D, but more importantly on a proper supply of vitamin C, the amino acids lysine and proline, and other collagen-supporting micronutrients. Since the human body cannot produce vitamin C or lysine internally, deficiencies of these critical nutrients are very likely and can be further depleted by the stress associated with a bone fracture.

Breast cancer patients' lives 'being ruined by side effects of chemo' that leaves them exhausted

NEWS

Thousands of women with breast cancer are struggling to lead normal lives because the side effects of chemotherapy are so debilitating, research shows.

COMMENT

Providing further evidence of the blind alley that orthodox approaches to cancer treatment are now lost in, even the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has confirmed that chemotherapy does not extend life for cancer patients diagnosed as terminal. In a paper published in 2015, researchers from the United States found that, far from being of benefit, the highly toxic treatment was associated with a reduced quality of life in patients who were otherwise in reasonable health and active at the start of the study. Moreover, in yet another this-is-not-rocket-science finding, terminal cancer patients who didn’t have chemotherapy were shown to have a better quality of life than those who did.

With public trust in the efficacy of chemotherapy collapsing, patients are increasingly therefore turning to natural health approaches that can block all key mechanisms that make cancer a deadly disease. Realizing that a cancer-free world is possible, they are choosing to turn their backs on the pharmaceutical status quo and take their own decisions about what is best for their health. Not only is the Drug Cartel increasingly being backed into a corner over this development, the end of the 'age of chemo tyranny' is gradually coming within sight.

Lower levels of coenzyme Q10 in blood associated with multiple system atrophy

NEWS

The neurodegenerative disease known as multiple system atrophy (MSA) affects both movement and involuntary bodily functions. Questions have been raised about the potential role of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) insufficiency in the development of MSA. Little is known about blood levels of CoQ10 in patients carrying either COQ2 mutations or no mutations.

COMMENT

The finding of this study provides still further confirmation of the link between micronutrient deficiency and the development of diseases.

As Dr. Rath’s Cellular Medicine concept explains, good health and poor health have one crucial aspect in common: they are determined at the level of the billions of cells that make up the human body. The reason for this is that vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other micronutrients are needed for the thousands of biochemical reactions that take place in each cell. A chronic deficiency of micronutrients is the most frequent cause of cellular dysfunction and the primary cause of today’s most common chronic diseases – including various forms of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and others.

Replenishing the body’s cells with essential micronutrients supports their bioenergy production and leads to optimal health. However, without adequate supplementation, the normal functioning of cells will eventually become impaired, resulting in poor health. An optimum dietary supplementation of vitamins and other essential micronutrients is therefore the key to the effective prevention and control of chronic health problems and degenerative diseases.

Consumption of omega-3s linked to lower risk of fatal heart disease

NEWS

A global consortium of researchers banded together to conduct an epidemiological study analyzing specific omega-3 fatty acid biomarkers and heart disease. They found that blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids from seafood and plant-based foods are associated with a lower risk of fatal heart attack.

COMMENT

While the optimum consumption of omega-3 fatty acids undoubtedly helps lower the risk of fatal heart disease, it is not the key factor determining its occurrence. Instead, as Dr. Rath’s scientific discovery reveals, the development of atherosclerotic deposits in the arteries of the heart is triggered by a long term deficiency of vitamin C in the cells that make up the artery wall. While the average human diet provides enough vitamin C to prevent scurvy, the clinical vitamin C deficiency disease, it does not contain enough to guarantee stable artery walls.

To learn how fatal heart disease can be prevented, naturally, using vitamin C and a synergistic combination of micronutrients, read Dr. Rath’s classic book, Why Animals Don’t Get Heart Attacks…But People Do!

Iran: Healthy eating good for mental health; B vits, omega-3s highlighted

NEWS

Mirroring western research, the first major Middle Eastern study investigating the link between diet and mental health finds that healthy eating is associated with a lower risk of anxiety and depression.

COMMENT

The publication of this study follows the government of Iran recently announcing that it is distributing vitamin D and iron supplements among Iranian high school girls. By also educating 500,000 students as health ambassadors in the country, and initiating campaigns which call for a healthy diet, getting enough exercise, and avoiding smoking, the Iranian government is taking important steps towards protecting the health of its citizens.

Ultimately, with the pharmaceutical approach to healthcare having utterly failed to conquer chronic diseases, it is only through taking advantage of scientifically-proven approaches and spreading natural health education that cardiovascular diseasecancer and other health problems can be reduced and largely eliminated.

Drugmakers pay $67 million to settle claims they exaggerated cancer drug's effectiveness

NEWS

Genentech and another drugmaker will pay $67 million to settle claims that they misled doctors into prescribing a treatment to lung cancer patients for whom the companies knew it would not work.

COMMENT

Pharmaceutical drugs are not – and never will be – the answer to either preventing or curing cancer. The reason for this is that they don’t address this disease’s root cause. Contrary to the impression given by pharma stakeholders in medicine and the media, cancer patients do not die from a lack of access to drugs – they instead die as a direct result of the chronic deficiencies of micronutrients that are the primary cause of the disease.

Ultimately, the people of the world will only achieve Victory Over Cancer when this simple message is understood and shared as widely as possible.
